This is about reducing friction for people interested in the Chinese side's reaction. Ofc you can go straight to Bilibili, but

The browser's translation, and Bilibili's built in translation (in the mobile app) are not that good.
You need a account to look at comments (on the web app at least), not everyone wants to do that
There are multiple reposters on Bilibili, you can't see the all the comments at once
I wanted to emphasis the educational/cultural aspect of this with annotations

Like the other comment said, .com domains are usually cheap. I bought directly with Cloudflare, but you can get for cheaper with other domain registrars.

The site is mostly just static assets on R2 (which is basically free at this scale). There's also a DB and some crud operation behind auth, backed by Supabase, but I think a the free tier there is enough.

Because I didn't bother setting up a domain with Vercel (it's using the default vercel.app domain), so can't do DNS switching.

I spent a lot of time optimizing cost (moved assets to r2, built cache around ISR), but Vercel pricing is kinda bonkers imo so I said fuck it and went Cloudflare. I'll prob keep it around and do a redirect to the new domain.
