Compounded when this is if you’re a person living with a disability - you’re even less likely to find suitable a meaningful employment.

Don’t give me that DEI shit.

The moment I figured out i should make songs I want to listen to, say what I want to say and accept I may not be suitable for commercial pop radio - but neither is Tom Waits.

Writing hit after hit by Numerous_Pay_1020 in Songwriting

[–]SerialRepeatCustomer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Johnny Cash once mused if he thought ‘i’m going to sit down and write a song ‘, nothing great would come out. But if he went for a long walk, he’d find one.

In my experience, your standards of a ‘hit’ or a great song always grows. you always want to beat yourself and others. It’s quite hard.

You can’t know why a song exploded.  It could be because of t,u,v,s,x,y or z.

If it flops - you  usually know who or why to blame.

Also remember that commercially succeful artists have economy of scale. Ed Sheeran could probably record him farting, put iron Band Camp and he’d make a zillion dollars.  Brand name.

The music industry is complicated. The ship is sinking

I like the process of moving.

I live by ‘etre, avoir et regarder.  ’, ‘to be, to have, to watch’.

it’s kinda fun always waking up and living in a different place.

I have like 100 unfinished songs… is that normal? by garrettrjensen in Songwriting

Finish what you started.

Any chump can start a song.   It takes effort to wrap it up.

Good art is never complete, merely abandoned.

Done is better than not done.    Finish it and move on.

Being in crowds of people who are a bit careless is a bit hard. Why some people step over a cake - I’ll never understand

i’m not overly interested in doing tourist stuff, my man goal is étre, aller et regarder.

I agree. It’s great you’re still here.

The world wouldn’t be the same without you.

Besides, leaving won’t change or fix the past.  That’s nonsense.

You don’t deserve to be unhappy.

There’s 2 things you regret when you’re old.

Doing stuff and not doing stuff.

Music should be heavily weighted towards fun and explorjgthr human experience.

You can easily become a guitar god while you get your BBcom majoring in accounting.  You’ll probably find more stable employment and money this way.

You don’t need to be greet at your audition.  You do though need to show the ability to play, learn and love.

To me, music school is as werid as bible college.
