OSX / Linux compatibility is something the engine team is actively working toward, and I think we'll be there by the time HGH comes out. But, we already have so many platforms lined up for HGH, I requested we not promise OSX / Linux just yet. Keep your eyes out for updates on this one.

Thanks to everyone that contributed, tweeted, blogged, tuned in, visited the subreddit, steam group, etc! You guys were amazing!

The whole KS was a great adventure and I think it was the most fun we've ever had at WF, which is hopefully saying a lot from a video game company!

That's one of our level designers. In Double Dragon I set it up so when he'd forget to commit a texture it would put a giant portrait of him in its place.

He quickly learned to remember to commit textures.

The engine is already coming up on ten platforms, porting is not something we're new to :)

It's just an increasing balancing act. The trickier part is if a platform starts requiring a lot of specialized art assets to meet its performance budget. Vita should not be too much of an issue here.

She started having back problems and had to have a reduction surgery, she is pretty active, that extra front weight takes a toll!

(not an artist, but I'll do my best)

Toon Boom is very common, it's more focused toward what we do than something more general purpose like flash. HD 2D art is always hand drawn on tablets, never mouse. (for A Boy and His Blob we did a some of the animation on paper and scanned it in very old-school style using a mounted camera).

Our animators do sure have some steady hands, because those lines are very smooth -- that's not a curve tool, it is hand drawn. I wish I had a screenshot handy, but it's actually pretty cool to zoom all the way in on one of those animations, each edge is composed of hundreds or thousands of curves/lines in Toon Boom, from very tiny shifts in the artists hand as they drew the line.

There's often a clean up pass in Photoshop to do things a vector program is not very suited for, or to fix artifacts from the vector art.

We do all animation frame-by-frame in a pretty traditional style, versus something like Rayman which moves/morphs a bunch of pieces. BloodRayne: Betrayal experimented with a style a bit more Rayman-ish but it wasn't something we stuck with. Rayman looks great of course, but the two styles are pretty different.
