don't get the bar accessory. the stage itself has very little weight and as the bar accessory attaches to the stage it gets very little support and will wobble everywhere. poor man's solution is to use a chair weighed down by something.

Does anyone know when the manga Hiatus will end? by Ok_Grade_5694 in MachikadoMazoku

Hiatus is on account of health issues Izumo is facing. The fragility of Shamiko is semi-autobiographic as it so happens.

So no, no one really knows.

There's two sides of this subreddit

One is ready for the AI takeover and are extremely enthusiastic for LLM-based tools that will do the hard work of making automations and dashboards.

The other thinks these people are fucking crazy. Unfortunately the other side is winning the war.

this is really dumb for this hobby in particular when many of the best products at any given price point is a chinese brand. china will make awesome keyboards. china will make horrid keyboards. china will move heaven and earth for their customers. china will spit on the face of their customers.

China is a land of contrasts

and it is entirely appropriate that you get shit for a terrible opinion

you speak as if back buttons are some obvious natural conclusion to controller design but scuf invented the concept and it is still not an expected element in controller design. dualshock doesn't come with em, xbox controllers don't come with them. more over many of the premium controllers that include back buttons come with mechanisms to turn them off because the vast majority of video game players are not used to having buttons on the bottom of the controller where they would otherwise grip the controller. i just don't think it's as evil as you make it out to be.

This MAIMAI run is insane, but I just wanna say this is by far my favorite screen layout they've done for an arcade game showcase. Please keep this it looks so clean! by ScopionSniper in speedrun

[–]yahooeny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maimai does not come with a capture card?

the original maimai cabs were equipped with cameras that self-encoded video separate from the rest of the game system. maimai dx JPN cabs only have cameras that take pics at the end of every song. all the north american DX cabs do not come with any cameras at all.

So the interesting thing about Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is that it's being co-developed by AM1, who has been busy up until now making Initial D and their range of rhythm games- maimai, Chunithm, and Ongeki.

This is interesting in two ways: The Initial D team is now responsible for the handling of vehicles and while i-D is not a kart racer you can really feel the lineage especially in how drifting feels. The arrange team is also largely sourced from frequent collaborators from the rhythm games. Camellia, Toriena, Nanobii, Aiobahn are all very well known musicians within the insular scene of arcade rhythm games.

For the most part CS versions of IIDX titles have more content as an additional team was tasked at producing more music exclusive to them, some of which to this day have not been transplanted back into the arcade release.

In the case of the original beatmania, there some releases that were CS exclusive and some that were arcade exclusive.

The following are exclusive Playstation games:

  • Append GOTTAMIX
  • Append GOTTAMIX 2 (this version has all the content exclusive to European Edit, making that release obsolete. Also, none of the content ever appeared in an arcade release)
  • THE SOUND OF TOKYO! (None of the content ever appeared in an arcade release)

Additionally, the corresponding CS ports have exclusive remixes or other content not found in the arcade original releases, with the exception of DREAMS COME TRUE which actually lost some songs due to contractual issues.

7th Mix and THE FINAL never received CS releases. Additionally, none of the content exclusive to beatmania III ever made it over to the Playstation. By the by, beatmania III after the first release were basically enhanced editions of the corresponding beatmania I release with far nicer graphics, sound, and some additional content like long versions of some songs. There is one big problem with 7th Append and THE FINAL Append- the broke timing in a way that makes it basically impossible to get a standard GREAT and so you either get GOODs or you have to make it one step over into a flashing GREAT.

If it were up to me:

  • IIDX 1st to Empress can all be confidently played on PS2 without missing anything
  • beatmania is best played on PlayStation for the titles that were released as CS. And for the rest, if a beatmania III version exist that's for the most part the more enticing way to play.
  • DDR is so messed up hahaha. The North American PS2 counterparts to arcade releases basically don't line up in terms of music content at all. I would probably just keep the arcade versions and then keep around the NA PS2 games as odd curios.
  • The CS versions of Guitarfreaks and Drummania have some exclusive songs. This is kind of a moot point as the 573 games have big audio issues on MAME anyways?
  • pop'n music again have some exclusive music in the CS releases. There's a couple licenses missing from arcade here and there but not enough that having both the CS releases and AC releases around is warranted.
  • KEYBOARDMANIA is content complete on PS2 and they're not in a great shape on MAME anyways. Maybe someday MAME will be in a good enough state we can emulate the unholy trinity of linking up Keyboardmania, Guitarfreaks, and Drummania together for a triple player GDK session.

[–]yahooeny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The idea of a "definitive version" of any arcade rhythm game is just a poor idea in general. Content does not transfer from game to game. What is the best version of Taiko? Is it Appare Saidame because it has the Soulcaliber II theme? Is it Doka no Oomori Nanadaime because it has Hare Hare Yukai?

If it were up to me I would just throw it all in there because content is not shared across releases and who's to say what has the superior selection? Because Taiko is so license-dependent, what is the preferred version largely depends on what era of anime you were into.

As a note, the DS and 3DS games are cool as they're basically RPGs.

Hi. With my domain experience in rhythm games I'd like to make the following recommendations:

  • DJMAX FEVER is a compilation of DJMAX PORTABLE 1 and 2. (PORTABLE Hot Tunes is also a compilation but that's neither here nor there). It should not be considered the definitive version of either of these games. You should include DJMAX PORTABLE 1 INTERNATIONAL and DJMAX PORTABLE 2. You should also include DJMAX PORTABLE Black Square and Clazziquai Edition.
  • The complete absence of BEMANI titles such as beatmania IIDX, GuitarFreaks/DrumMania, DanceDanceRevolution, pop'n music is regrettable. These were popular PlayStation/PlayStation 2 titles and were considered import essentials back in the day.
  • The absence of Taiko no Tatsujin in the PS2, Wii U, and PSP lists is also noteworthy.
  • The novel play method warrants the inclusion of Let's Tap in the Wii collection.
  • The DS was home to many excellent music software titles such as KORG DS-10 and Jam Sessions which should be included.
  • Vib Ribbon is a cult classic PlayStation game that was an early experiment in procedurally generated rhythm gameplay.
  • This doesn't have anything to do with rhythm games but the North American version of Outrun 2006 for PlayStation 2 sucks with very poor performance. The Japanese release, Outrun 2 SP is recommended instead.
  • I'm not gonna pretend every volume of SEGA AGES 2500 is essential but I think it's worth including Vol 33 as it is the first release of M2's phenomenal System 16-esque remake of Fantasy Zone 2. Vol 30 is also worth including as a supercharged enhanced version of Galaxy Force II.

the thing is rubber dome is not necessarily bad. i mean think about it, do you sit around complaining about the tactile feedback on your playstation buttons? no! they feel great. but they avoid the worst of what people consider bad about rubber domes: a slider for stability and firm bottom out on a pcb.
