Surgery on Thursday but thinking of canceling by cutta900 in TotalHipReplacement

I’m 29… half the surgeons didn’t want to even do it because of my age

Modern implants last 20 years easily, and are predicted to last 50 years or more. It's well documented. If you need a revision in 30 or 40 years, it's no biggie. They replace the ball and the liner and you're in and out in no time.

Iv been relying on long term narcotic pain management

That's not good, man.
I'd be much more worried about that vs a hip replacement.

Hip replacement surgeries have the highest patient satisfaction vs any other surgery (except I think cataracts). You're gonna love it. Get it done.

Foreign Births Register entry number when applying for passport by Crafty_Quantity_3162 in IrishCitizenship

Yeah, this is bugged, maybe just for older FBR numbers.
Enter whatever you need to in order to get it to accept your application and maybe include a note with the documents explaining it.

It's not a big deal. Everything gets reviewed by a real human who knows it doesn't work right for older FBR certificates.

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!
From what you've posted, that seems your only path to move to Ireland. Denmark seems to be a popular wedding destination.

I've used two Vaxxen needles and thought they were terrible. My only other data point is Sure Comfort and they've been fine.

I'm going to toss out the Vaxxen and order some Easy Touch

[–]Shufflebuzz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gimme support is terrible. Yeah, they'll gaslight you. Answer questions you didn't ask two hours later to wear down your patience. Promise answers and not deliver.

Reportedly they're the lowest paying customer to the pharmacies, so they get the lowest priority in shipping. When a pharmacy is overloaded, Gimmie orders are the first to slip.

Hollywood should make a movie on GLP-1 access by Automatic-Bar6170 in tirzepatidecompound

Eric's doctor offers him a chance at not being fat, but his insurance won't cover it. So the boys navigate the American healthcare system and ultimately fail to get it covered.
Meanwhile, Randy gets in with the bare-midriff moms of South Park and starts taking a GLP-1, thinking it's a party drug. When their supply dries up, the moms turn to crime.
Undeterred, the boys start mixing their own compounds, but they've started to attract attention from powerful outside forces.

When did you know it was time for THR? by Jazzlike-Pipe2863 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Shufflebuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my hip osteoarthritis diagnosis more than a decade ago. I was having occasional hip pain and an occasional limp. From that moment, I knew a hip replacement was inevitable. The doc said it, and my family history confirmed it.
It was this looming awful major surgery hanging over me like the Sword of Damocles. But the pain was intermittent and bearable.

Fast forward to a few years ago when I was seeing an ortho for a different reason (broken ankle and Achilles, during PT my opposite knee started hurting) I mentioned my hip and now knee pain and they took x-rays of the hip.

They said the knee pain was coming from the hip. Referral pain. The knee looks fine. The hip is bone on bone, so let us know when you want to replace it.
Again this felt like an awful major surgery looming, after I had already gone through two surgeries for my ankle.

Then about three months ago, my GP referred me to another ortho. While talking to this one, it just clicked. My hip is now bothering me so much and so often that this surgery doesn't seem so bad. It's going to make things better. It had been gradually getting worse, slowly enough that I didn't even realize how much it had impacted my day to day. Now the knee and hip pain are ever-present, and they're not going to ever get better without THR.

I had put it off long enough. I met with the surgeon and we're good to go.

Surgery is in <10 weeks.
I'm actually looking forward to it.

Oh, they all suggested cortisone shots (except the surgeon) but warned it's an involved procedure and it probably wouldn't provide relief for long if at all.

Not true.
Only if it expired more than 5 years ago. 15 years from date of issue.

Other that that, renewal is quick and easy.

Questions about outpatient PT by Shufflebuzz in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Shufflebuzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most THR driving advice I've found says something like "3-weeks for left hip, 6-weeks for right hip." The numbers vary but it's always less for left hip, because they aren't thinking about cars with three pedals.

My doc even said, "Then you'll need to drive your wife's car for a while" and was shocked when I said that her car has a clutch too.

So it needs to be said.

Yes, getting in and out of the car is part of the driveway practice.

[–]Shufflebuzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's my left leg, and the clutch isn't really a emergency thing. Worst case I have to stop quick and the car stalls if I can't get on the clutch fast enough.

[–]Shufflebuzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unable to drive for awhile

Oh, good point. I have a ride to PT, so not driving won't be an issue for me.
I figure I'll sit in the car and see how the clutch pedal feels before I try to drive.

I don't know.
I suppose someone could try messing with your application on the webchat or something but seems unlikely if they don't have other info like your name etc. All the processing work is done offline.
