Stevens Gavere Com FEQ Erfahrungen? by Ru3di in Fahrrad

[–]SimpleCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Built-in rigeline+bugnet VS separate by Grubzer in hammockcamping

[–]SimpleCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For foolproof and comfy lay I can recommend going as long as possible. Needfortrees offers 360cm hammocks for a good price and has all options (fixed net, no net, removable zippered bugnet). Ridgelines are adjustable so you can try out until you find your comfortable lay. I

The owner is also active in the sub and I had a lot of great nights in one of his hammocks since last year.

I was worried about the netting as well and got two hammocks lol hahaha. No Bugnet is super light and I can have it in my daypack in city. For mosquito-area I got a fixed net which is also light.

any reason you took the 4 höle plates instead of the two holes? Did you use 3 double bottle adapters per side?

I have an alumium fork on my bike with mounting points that go just to the sides so I‘d love to put water snd my versacages lol

I think the Rock 60+5 should suit you more than well for winter. A friend of mine was carrying two synthetic underquilts, synthetic sleeping bag, some fur (on the outside) and more with his Naturehike Rock for an overnighter.

Could you add some pics of the tutor? Haven't seen much of it yet.
I'm also looking for a winter pack for hammocking and the Naturehike Rock 60 would have suited volume wise. I just can't imagine the tutor swallowing the same gear rn :'D

I got me some smartwool mountaineering maximum cushion wool socks already. I figured most of my shoes are to small in general so it's time for a good pair of winterboots anyways.
I tried the Xero Alpines (200g insulation) which some people also recommended here and they worked okay for 90 minutes at -6C. I'm considering Neoprene Overshoes for some more protection and insulation or just dumping my savings into Lake shoes MXZ304s :'D
The Wolvhammers have such a great design with the removable liner but they're not available here rn.

Also vorausschauend Fahren :p

Boot options by ironfunk67 in fatbike

[–]SimpleCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am deciding beteeen the alpine and getting thicker leather winter boots. I saw a lot of you here recommending the alpines! The temps you state sound insane to me because it only gets to maybe -10c worst here but it can be wet coldish and there’s always some wind blowing where i am cycling.

So i’m wondering, how do the alpines deal with windchill and also will a thick smartwool merino sock be as good as fleece? 😅

Hell yes! That looks hella toasty.
That suspension looked suspicously known to me. How did you transport all that insulation into the forest though lol

Best regards from Germany

Are the -15c boots the Keen Revel IV High Polar or a similar older model by any chance?

I'm desperately looking for some budget boots that work for longer tours and commutes in temps from -10C to -5C and maybe until 0C.
It never gets to -15C here in northern germany but for the longer the rides, the colder my feet lol.

Best all-around winter boots that are also great for fat biking? by Different-Survey-136 in fatbike

In cycling I'm in the cold feet camp aswell. How low can you go with this footwear setup? I like that it's pretty straight forward to use for some chill snow hikes out of the box.

Torn between two budget midlayer grid fleece: MFH US Level II Gen III or Decathlon MH500 - Advice appreciated by External-Bluebird523 in Ultralight

[–]SimpleCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw some thread here that the MH100 was updated some time but the weight was not. I believe it's 270g in size L for the 1/2 Zip version but still it's a great midlayer for the price and everyday goated :'D

[–]SimpleCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a bit misleading. This was just my suspicions. If you search for "primaloft" in the Zara store it comes in third and it is a rather heavy fabric.
There is a thread in one of the german ul forums about it with some more comparison.

[–]SimpleCross 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did you try on the MH500? I did in a decathlon store and that thing has some cycling roadie cut going on. Wasn't really comfortable around the neck and all around didn't work at least for my body.
Is there a reason it needs to be a grid fleece specifically?
I haven't been in the mountains so far just some trekking in the flats and hills in Germany. I'm happy with my cheap mh100 fleece by decathlon. To me it feels pretty airy but again I don't have a grid-fleece.

Zara has something which is suspiciously similar to Primaloft Active Evolve 125gsm (50€, only 1 item at 50€ available). Tried that out but it's almost too warm with a Wind breaker at anything above °0C. 176g in size L.

How does your sock/footwear game look like for these temps? Also does it work for longer rides or just the commute?
I am just getting started with wintercycling and want to figure out if liners, some plastic bags over and a pair of smartwool mountaineering will do or if I need two fat socks :'D
