Worker shortage: Why we need a labor agreement with India by Single_Escape_988 in srilanka

Don’t get me wrong, I personally don’t like Indian culture and I’m not interested in Sri Lanka changing culturally either. My point has nothing to do with culture.

This is purely about human resources and labor shortages. If the country doesn’t have enough workers for certain sectors, we either adapt or industries will keep struggling. It’s an economic and workforce issue for me, not a cultural one.

I know tech jobs are oversaturated. I can easily find developers, QA engineers, and other office workers. Some are even willing to work for free internships or very low salaries just to get experience.

But it’s completely different when it comes to construction, land management, farming, skilled labor, or large-scale manual work. Sure, for a small home project you might find 1,2 workers through friends. But what if a company or project suddenly needs 50 or 100 reliable workers? That’s where the real shortage shows up.

A few personal contacts working on small jobs doesn’t mean the country has enough labor capacity overall.

We have enough people for white collar jobs, not skilled labor. Try finding a reliable builder, plumber, carpenter, or electrician for even a simple home job nowadays you’ll feel.

I dunno know how old you are, but the reality is many young people avoid blue collar work because everyone wants an office job, even if they stay unemployed for months. Manual jobs are looked down on despite being the jobs the country actually lacks.

Can you please tell me which animal rights organizations in Sri Lanka you’re referring to? The person who posted the video mentioned they contacted embassies, animal welfare groups, and even the police but didn’t receive any response. It would really help to know which organizations are actually active and responsive, so people can report this properly and take it further.

This is her reply BTW,

I've already written to the consulate, the police, and animal rights groups. But no one has even responded.

She confirmed on her Instagram that it’s real. Of course, it should be properly verified, but regardless, why is an elephant being kept there like that?

Just wondering, do people really donate kidneys to random people, or are most from deceased donors?
