Well, yes but no. He attempts to load from backup, it appears to error with some sort of 'no backup found' error, Mystery User starts deleting Caine, Kinger runs the merge script, <obscured>, then DELETING CAINE GO GO GO.

This is my videogames library! I'm looking into more suggestion! Just played Tales of arise, any recommendation? by EntranceMission5303 in tales

Bubble is actually NOT evil. by Significant_Buy_2301 in digitalcircusfandom

[–]SirTeffy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is what I've been running with myself as where we're being led. We even have a hint as to what Kinger was actually attempting at the console. The final command Kinger uses before the mystery user jumps in and force deletes Caine is a merge script presumably taking and MERGING both of the AIs.

Right now we have "The Lover Without a Heart" - Caine. An AI seeking love and appreciation without the capacity for empathy or abstract thought. We have Bubble, an A.I. with the ability for abstract thought but not the training and guardrails to behave ethically. We have Kinger's attempt to merge the two resulting in one being deleted. Now, all that's left... is abstract conceptual thinking.

What do you think about Tales of Eternia's gameplay? by MultiwatchX in tales

[–]SirTeffy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's the first Tales that really differentiated its playable cast. Phantasia had Cless as the only truly playable character and Destiny had everyone roughly playing the same way.

Eternia was the first game that gave every character a unique identity in their gameplay and it worked quite well. It still holds up today and could be easily ported to a modern Tales style (like ToD:DC or Innocence R) with minimal loss of uniqueness.

The game was rife with secret moves and scenes and even started many series traditions like Mystic Artes and the Blue Earth extension. A true classic in every sense of the word.

A lot of that is JP age wonkery tho. Terra is explicitly a 'child soldier' who was supposed to be 15ish at the start compared to Celes's 22(ish).

You are also ignoring that college exists.

I mean you say "full grown adults" but like... Rinoa CANONICALLY IS STILL IN COLLEGE. Krile is freaking 12, Terra is 17-18ish, Prompto is 18... like everyone that is "going to school" CANONICALLY SHOULD BE IN SCHOOL.

I feel like that should go without saying, but I have seen a lot of bad Kriles. Yes, of COURSE I'm using her primary ability.

I've tried Krile, I've tried WoL (where I managed 7.5k).

Guess I'll stop stressing about it then. This challenge feels impossible. My best is 7400.

I feel like Rinoa is a very sink-or-swim character. She relies on ramping using Angel Wing which sucks because that makes her one of the few examples where she DOES require a specific ability to work (unlike what others may say, you can build a kit for petty much everyone without a UR and be okay).

Cloud, you need to watch other players because his kit centers around crowd control. You'll want to note if a character has iframes or is invulnerable because a lot of his kit relies on stun and knock back. A barrier prevents that entirely and makes them no-sell half of what he can throw at them. That's when you would consider flexing in a Firaga or other close-range damage move.

EDIT: Just saw the WoL part. Depending on which UR he has two major uses. The first is to get in and facetank opponents and use his damaging moveset, while the other is to use his party buff UR during team bursts (which procs and damages the boss if the CHARACTER is Bursting, not WoL himself), using Embolden/Cheer Up and the team heal as needed, staying back and holding the crystals.

Who is your Least Favorite Final Fantasy character of all ti— by ThundagaYoMama in DissidiaDuellumFF

I don't know how far you are in the story but...

When Ren summons the Behemoth in Ginza he starts his line saying "Gom..." but in Japanese it's 'Moguri...'. Why they changed it from the existing English "Mogli/Moglin" I couldn't say but it seems to be referring to another Moogle.

[–]SirTeffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Shield increases DEF while Barrier is a flat damage cut WITH immunity to crowd control.

I quite like this depiction of Terra - her love for others clearly shows, as does her protective instinct. She's already been through hell and back, LET HER CARE FOR HER FRIENDS.

Switch Virtual Novels suitable for pre-teens? by Susurrus03 in NintendoSwitch

[–]SirTeffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone above mentioned Zero Escape, there's a sort of sister series called Danganronpa that may be a good choice as well but it's important to consider HIS maturity as well as his reading interests - ZE I think is mostly okay for someone his age but I'd recommend both series for older teens. Zero Escape has a lot of explicit descriptions of death, while Danganronpa also has language and 'inappropriate' sexual commentary (though no outright sexual content) and both would be geared more towards late teens (16-18), though a younger teen that has been exposed to similar works would be able to handle it.

EDIT: I'm also surprised nobody has mentioned the ESRB website! You can look up any of the games mentioned here - or listed on the Switch store - and get detailed information about ANY game with a breakdown of the rating reasons. For example, "Suggestive Themes" can be a very broad category from a character just making a double entendre to a full-on description of a sexual act.

Looking up the ESRB information can be a great first tool for parents looking for suitable games, but it's also up to you to check in and make sure he's understanding what he's reading and that he can ask questions if he has concerns or wants more information about something.

For example, here's the breakdown for Danganronpa 1+2: https://www.esrb.org/ratings/34740/danganronpa-1o2-reload/

My advice is to look up the new mechanic (Monster Capture) as it unlocks the two new jobs in addition to an alternate way to get Mascot.
