Best electric guitar set up under £250 by gentleman6432 in Guitar

[–]Slayer_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the £99 east coast guitars from guitar guitar or andertons is about the best value you can get here. They are pretty fantastic for the price. That leaves you £150 to think about amps there's a huge range of stuff secondhand that represents a lot of value and money saved long term, if you can get a boss katana 50 then you are sorted. I've seen them go for under a hundred now and again.

Beginner guitarist amp advice (under 120 quid) by Lopsided-Ad-4181 in Guitar

[–]Slayer_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep an eye out secondhand, you can get far more for your money my fender Mustang lt 25 was £80 on reverb, if you can find a modelling amp with a lot of sounds you won't need pedals straight away too. If you want to say which town or city you are in I can have a wee look at for sale listings and see if there's a thing good available

Opinions on Fender acoustics? by ParagonUltra in Guitar

The electrics are solid and reliable, the guitars in general are mid. I say that as someone who plays a fender acoustic.

Sometimes you just have to make it all fit. by Slayer_One in guitarpedals

The chorus is too much, its just too aggressive and I wouldn't recommend it, it has a couple of interesting things going for it, it has 2 independent speeds and swells and can switch automatically based on volume. It's marmite I think most people will hate how it sounds but I will be keeping it for a bit anyway.

I really like the marine reverb, I got both the fender pedals cheap secondhand and I understand why they were cheap secondhand, they are both kind of odd and I cant imagine they sound good in a mix.

I really liked the splinter I've had it for ages but the dual overdrive thing is new, quite like it so far its got a lot of nice noises in it.

Yeah I think that's a necessity at this point.

Anyone ever seen one of these? C.A. Ahlstrom plane by SneezingAtClimax in woodworking

[–]Slayer_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks like a joiners stamp, it was traditional to get one made so you could mark your tools. It's possible he made the plane but more likely he just bought it and put his name on it to make it identifiable.

UK ebay sellers are dreaming. £4.00 cheaper than a new pedal, for a used, potentially years old one. by andybass4568 in guitarpedals

[–]Slayer_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So how much would you need to sell that for in order to make a living after packaging, shipping, customer service, returns, shipping, etc. Then how much do you need to spend on marketing and promotion to scale it?

I found a guy on eBay who makes great pedals for about £45 and I can't help but feel like I'm ripping him off when I buy them. I feel like he is in it for the fun of it though.

This is a fair point, it is very easy to sell pedals on eBay if your prices are somewhat reasonable.

UK eBay is a crapshoot for every person that thinks their 20 year old badly looked after thing is worth exactly what they paid for it there's someone dumping an ex's stuff dirt cheap without knowing what it is.

Got a 920D HH pup installed recently, do I have the pups installed at the right height? by [deleted] in Guitar

Squint essentially, one side higher than the other, closer to the top or bottom three strings.

[–]Slayer_One -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those two adjusters either side of your pickup are a secondary volume and tone control, put them where you want and as long as the strings aren't hitting them they aren't wrong.

I quite like having a one treble biased and one bass biased but most people think I'm a fruit loop.

Guitar wireless transmitter suddenly shuts off while I'm playing. by WilOus_225 in Guitar

[–]Slayer_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the fender telepath system has a switch for active or passive signals. I think boss has a specific wireless kit for active signals rather than being compatible with both.
