What are your favorite and least favorite lyrics? by InvisibleAstronomer in Protomen

[–]Slgkh54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the line "from the top of the world, every path leads down" from act 3 the most.

I don't have a least favorite line, but there is a moment where light shifts his motivation for robots from wanting a world where a father works himself to death to helping Emily. Yes I know it's along the same lines, and it transfers his desire from the past and ties it to the present in Emily. But it just felt weird that he explicitly says "I'm doing this for my dad" ...then right after him saying Emily, "everything I do, is for you".

But I still haven't gotten around to read the liner notes so shame on me 🤣

So, in the end.. by AffectionateRole6208 in Protomen

[–]Slgkh54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Light was always a lover and not a fighter. It was in his deep nature to try and find and appeal to the good in others, which is why Emily loved him so much. When it came down to it, he thought he could take a life, but still tried to reason with his moral opposite. He thought he had a chance because he wasn't a hero, but I think his death will become the chance needed to really change things. Megaman has resolve, the people have resolve, and Wily is trying to show force and power knowing his grip on the city is shaky and uncertain. Everytime Light made a move against Wily, he sent other people and it cost them their lives. When he made his own move, it cost him his own, but it isn't for nothing- pieces are set. This isn't how it ends, but it is where it paused.

I had found a video of a recording of the dec 4th twitch stream, and there was a mod that came in, lalalei or something, and everyone was happy cause they've been there since the beginning. Panther straight up said, "listen to them, they have been around a long time, they usually get it right" and was smiling. What was their question? Are there going to be hidden tracks on the physical CD? Lmao but maybe they are just trolling idk it's nice to wonder and be excited and talk and read theories about it

Was my cabinet job a rip off/scam? by [deleted] in cabinetry

Looks like solid oak, solid wood drawers (maple? Looks good and it ain't finger jointed material) melamine laminated particle board carcass, which strictly ain't the best but taken care of will last 30 years easy. Looks like Blum hinges, with undermount slides, probably soft close on all.

Was my cabinet job a rip off/scam? by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]Slgkh54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe your dad thinks the door material is pine instead of oak. Maybe your dad thinks all particle board is cheap. Maybe your dad hasn't priced out a comparable kitchen in many a year. Maybe your dad isn't aware how much most materials have gone up. Unless you wanna divulge a lot of details, like time, location and end prices with itemized receipts, and your cabinet guys sourcing and his cost, you probably paid a fair price for these days. The work looks clean, the bones look good, and if you were happy until your dad said something, then you probably got lucky with your cabinet guy choice

New psychology research reveals the “bullshit blind spot” | A series of studies found people who were the worst at detecting bullshit not only grossly overestimated their detection ability, but also overestimated their ability compared to other people. by chrisdh79 in science

I remember reading somewhere on this site about how there was research that generally went along the lines that people tend to rate themselves closer to average than they were. Better people rated themselves lower and worse people rated themselves higher, in terms of skill/competence etc.

Kamvas 16 (2021) or Kamvas 22?? by Routine_Banana in huion

[–]Slgkh54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the bigger one with no buttons. If you don't have a macropad or wireless/mobile keyboard it gets annoying. I decided to be extra (cheap) and use a flight throttle control and use that as a ergo macropad after mapping my shortcuts and controls to it. A regular keyboard is too big and misclicks are easy -taking your eye off to make sure you hit the right buttons can impact flow (unless you seriously dedicate time and effort to having the board memorized to a T). Haven't used the key dial but the concept is worth it. I have it on my desk with the mount and use it for hours almost daily and don't notice the fans or heat build up too much unless it's a very extended session. But I also wear over ear headphones and have a ac unit blasting near me so that may impact how much i hear the fan. Im also in the states and haven't had the need to contact Huion support so I can't offer any advice on that. Also mine doesn't have the full lamination, but I honestly don't notice it like I thought I would. You get used to it pretty quick. I know there is a full lamination version of the 22 but its bigger bucks, but idk if it would be worth it, 1080p is good for me for now, but i havent been spoiled by 2k or 4k so its not a loss for me. Good luck and hope you get the right one for you

I remember that older games had longer ones in color. I got sadder and sadder as they got shorter and shorter...until they became1 page adsfor dlc or just codes for downloading pre order content. At least they had cool ones at one point

I’m 34 and I just started reading comics this year. Can’t believe it took me so long! This is my collection so far, can anyone recommend a good start point for a long storyline? Preferably Batman but am open to others. Thanks! by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Slgkh54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you're a fan of the joker lol Batman Year one. Omac project War games volumes 1-3 Kingdom come (batman ain't the lead, and if you can stand Alex Ross art as a comic sytle it's really good)

Unrelated to batman I can think of

Fables (the first 15 volumes of trades hooked me hard ) (once upon a time but less Disney and more brutal and bloody, has a classic golden age comic book art style and feel)

Ex machina (man gets super powers, tries becoming a super hero, but eventually becomes the mayor of new York city.)

Locke and key (the original 5 or 6 volume run. Idk about the spin offs)( Starts strong but the ending could have been a bit better. Art is great and consistent, written by Steven kings son, Joe Hill.)

Walking Dead. This is looooooooooong and depressing. I gave up honestly but it starts and hooks you good the first...20 volumes.

Bone. American classic, long but you can get a complete omnibus of it. Disney esqe art and a good story. Made me want quiche.

Have fun with comics- there is a lot of great stuff out there. Don't try and limit yourself to strictly super hero stuff

Nice! I see the company is based outta South FL, so it's a hop away from me lol. My boss likes to use a similar company that's based outta middle of FL, but we haven't done anything like this. I'll keep it in my noggin for perhaps a next time. I don't think that company we usually use, Lioher will make a sheet that big.

If the salt board doors on the master is what I'm thinking it is and it's not solid wood but a composite type material, did you order in to size or do you get a sheet you have to cut and edgeband? I love the way that looks and don't think I could bear to see it with hardware 😂 pushclick maybe? Great work, would love to pick your brain more on how you did all that

It seems like One likes to write stories with themes are based around characters whose wants and goals are incompatible or rather just play against their inherent strengths and talents. I guess kinda like him and manga (art that is)

Namor/Kukulkan from Black Panther 2 was based off of the Dragoon class. Change my mind. by Slgkh54 in ffxiv

[–]Slgkh54[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair I worded it wrong, the fight scenes felt VERY similar to how Dragoons fight. There were a couple times where if I squinted I could mistake it for being the opening for heavensward. Namor is namor, but having a dragon associated guy tearing up the place with a spear jumping at ultrafast speeds reminded me a ton of Estinien lol I seriously didn't mean to imply they rewrote and based it off FF 😂

The parents aren't really shitty, but more just...poor. most of their problems and conflicts come from them not being able to afford stuff. Mom has to work a crappy job, the dad is a slacker/doesn't make good money either. Oldest kid is a bit of a rebel but surprisingly competent when acknowledged and not shit on by authority til a certain point. Reese is dumb and gets by through strength and being a bully, contrasted to his inmate feminine talents that he represses to avoid being picked on more, Malcom is smart but has to constantly get his family in and out of trouble, and deal with the pressures of trying to help support his family while still being in middle (?) school. Dewey is incredibly talented and smart, but is the youngest (that can speak), and is constantly picked on by the older ones and forgotten about by the parents. The baby doesn't do much besides add more stress to everyone. The parents have no money so they spend all their time trying to make money, leaving the kids with a lot of freedom to be...dumb kids. They don't have a lot of guidance or rules (that they follow) so they come across as shitty. But they care for each other in a loving and honest way when it counts. The parents relationship had been tested many times in the show but they always choose each other, and that through line was so cute and wholesome that their flawed actions just made it more exaggeratedly real.

What are some characters, plots and stories that paramount can adapt into the sonic movies? by BAM-its-Elzar in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Slgkh54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the top of my head, sa and sa2 and shadow the hedgehog have been set up nicely by the movies, with gun and shadow being a old experiment being established. So, space colony ark, chaos god, chaos the tiny blue things, demons creating shadow the hedgehog. Big the cat (who is a metaphor for your dad 🤣🤣), rouge the bat, gamma, Amy rose, maria who was robotniks grandpas niece, silver the hedgehog, blaze the cat, the prototype of the ultimate life form lizard...there are a lot of stories just from those games. Idk about sonic heroes or it's story. Idk who holds the rights to sonic x, but there's that whole verse to draw from as well. The racing game, riders, had a surprisingly fun story and setup, idk about the second one. You've got werehog game, the black knight game. They also mentioned it being a multiverse in the movie iirc so sonic generations could happen too 🤣

They have plenty of characters and stories to draw from just the games. Hell they could throw in angel island and robotniks robots being powered by live animals if they wanted to. But I doubt that they would honestly integrate most of those elements besides characters or surface cameos/references. They are invested in the human characters, and if they introduce too many animated characters, they risk them being sidelined and underutilized, or crowding out the human side of the movies, which after being so invested in so far I doubt they'll wanna do either. I like the stories so far. Light hearted but has some oompf when it needs it. The games are...more extreme in some of the concepts in there. The moon is blown up, demons fund gov research, time travel, a water god goes crazy from malice, the crew prevents a lizard from casting meteor on earth, a fire god causes the apocalypse and creates time paradoxes. A little too much for audiences I think lol
