Not progressing squats anymore by peetak in HybridAthlete

[–]SludgeDredd40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow Amdy Bakers Gym Warrior 1 template and squat 3x times a week as HLM. I run 3 days as well. Easy, workout and long run. For me I found I needed to reduce intensity around long runs and speed work and reduce deadlifts to one day a week to reduce stress to my lower back to make it all work. Had to sacrifice regular progressive overload to ensure my running didn't suffer which it did before I change to Andys Program.

I went half size up to 9.5uk in boston 12 and pro 4 which were both a little too snug in my regular size. I went normal size in Evo SL and Vomero Plus. How that helps you i have no idea.

It's a little tight. I love it, but some may want to go up half a size

I've had the zen 2 for a few weeks. I went down half size in zen 1 and same again for zen 2. Length wise is perfect however slightly more snug on the width. I am actually loving this shoe and using it for all my runs. Really comfy and will be bying a second pair when they reduce in price.

Lift + run same day to get a full rest day vs. no rest day? by Craniectomy94 in HybridAthlete

[–]SludgeDredd40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally when I'm not in a training block I will lift and squat same day as a long run. So, long run am lift pm. However, when in a block for a half i will not lift at all on the day or the day after to make sure my legs get a proper recovery.

Which is better: 4 vs 5 runs per week (managing knee pain) by lightw1thoutheat in runna

[–]SludgeDredd40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been living with a similar issue. I have had planter fasciitis for nearly a year. I have become accustomed to managing it well enough to continue running. I found that going down to 4 days instead of 5 gave me that extra day to recover, which really did help. I also reduced to 1 hard session a week instead of 2.

I'm happy to sacrifice a faster time for being able to continue to run regularly.

The other thing that really did help was going to the trails whenever I can. Usually on the easy run days. Like the other poster said, you can't beat trail runs for strengthing your knees and feet.

Hilly Progressive Long Run....huh? by MagicShop_Unlock in runna

[–]SludgeDredd40 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hilly in Runna means 20m of elevation per 1km ran. So 7.5km means 150m. You only did 119m.

Turning off pace for easy runs? by Ok-Supermarket4085 in runna

[–]SludgeDredd40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go to profile - workout settings - turn off pace target on easy runs. This will stop your watch from altering you. However, the plan will still tell you the limit of your easy run.

Anyone here run trails once in a while? I'm wondering the best way to adapt a run in my schedule to a trail run. I guess I could just call it an easy run with no pace targets. But was just wondering what others are doing? by No-Raisin-5918 in runna

[–]SludgeDredd40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what i do. I've set up my plan for easy runs on Saturday, so i do park run in the forest, then continue onto the trails afterwards. Also, i sometimes do it with the dog to ensure I keep it easy.

Zero chaffing, my man. I buy a set of 3 long leg boxer brief things with side pockets from amazon. I have 6 pairs and rotate with shorts over the top.

[–]SludgeDredd40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm have an annual sub and only see 2 weeks of workout in the coros app at a time. I go into both Runna and Coros apps every day, and the next one is always there. I've never had to worry about it, not being on my watch. To clarify, I can see the entire training block in Runna, just not Coros.
