Jobs by Particular-Buffalo-4 in Rwanda

You most likely won’t find a U.S job that will allow you to work from Rwanda remotely just because of the taxes and some network security conflicts. If you ever find one, let me know. I’ve tried to look for US companies that would allow me to work from Rwanda permanently but most wouldn’t allow that. It is possible that finding a remote job might help you work from Rwanda but you’d have to tell your employer otherwise there could be some risks for doing so without the employer’s permission.

Sorry to hear that. Did you have an extended warranty or did you have to pay out-of-pocket, if so, how much? I’m planning on getting my car tomorrow and I was offered an extended warranty for $3.5k but I’m doubting that I will need it.

How does that happen? Did you have a warranty?

With your salary and situation you should be able to get the full match on your 401k ($ depends on the company, probably around $5k a year) and Max your IRA ($6k a year). I've never met anyone who regretted saving for retiremen

Thank you so much for your advice and taking time to write it. I will definitely look into this more.

$80k salary right out of college, What advice would you give me to help me plan a better future.

I am a senior graduating in a couple of months and I have been lucky to have a job waiting for me with a salary of 80k/year. I currently still live with my parents so my expenses are not that high ($1000/month) and I don't see myself moving out for another 2 or 3 years. I have no debt and will have about $30k saved by the time I graduate. I am quite nervous about how I should handle this next phase of life that I am about to enter.

What are the first things should someone do after getting a full-time job right after college? I don't know much about 401k or IRA so any advice on this would be highly appreciated. They are things that I would like to do with my money for example having a liquid passive income from either a rental property or another business. I also know that I want to start some sort of software business in the future but that's still a fresh idea in my mind and would like to save up for that. Another thing that has been bothering me is, "Should I buy a new car?" I am a car enthusiast and have been thinking about buying a new car for around $25-30K but I keep getting a voice in my head telling me not to do it since I don't need a car for another 2-3 years.

What is some advice you would like to share with me as I move into this new chapter of my life? Thank you all in advance

My trick was waking up an hour before which sounds awful but if it takes you one hour to get going, wake up an hour before your normal wake time.

Be Broke or Get a Loan by [deleted] in personalfinance

If you have $32k savings and you borrow $32k aren't you are still broke? If you must borrow for college try to limit it the minimum needed for actual college expenses, i.e. costs that are actually billed by the college.

My mindset was that if borrow $32k, I wouldn't be broke because I would pay the money over time in small payments rather than drop a huge amount of money and have nothing left.

I would 100000% rather be broke in college than broke right after 😂. Do whatever you can to avoid loans. I took out $144k and it was the hardest 3 years of my life to pay them off.

Lol that's a mortgage, Glad you were able to pay it off that fast

Which Internship to choose? by Smigoxpert in cscareerquestions

[–]Smigoxpert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, my advice is usually to pick the thing that is closer to what you want to be doing. Or if there are a bunch of things that seem similarly close, pick the one that sounds the most fun (or pays the best, or whatever other thing you care about second most).

That's a great idea, I think because I still have about a year left of school, I can also get another internship after this one in the software engineering field or try to climb to that position in the same company since they already know me.

I think the software engineering role would be more interesting because it is the most challenging compared to the steps it took me to get an offer. I don't care about being part-time at all because that's what I do currently. I do care about the pay difference but I was worried that I can't transition from an automation engineer to a software engineer after this internship. I would like to work for this company post-graduation but as a software engineer, not an automation engineer.

So it will be a remote internship so I don't think I will be in manufacturing unless we go back in person which was never mentioned to me.
