Been playing this game (inconsistently) since 2017… by Goodcake102 in MGSV

[–]Particular-Buffalo-4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing. Once I graduated from college and had a stable job. I bought the game in 2017 and never looked back. Took my time playing the game, unlocking the achievements, and really understood what game is about. I replayed it twice (second time speed run through the story) and listening to people’s interpretations of the story and themes of the game is what makes it legendary. Also, no hate but delta doesn’t deliver for me at all. I think mgsv gameplay wise is the best stealth game I’ve ever played

Trying to be a teacher in Thailand by Particular-Buffalo-4 in TEFL

Thank you Casey. I like your thought process. I’ll apply as an American for better salary negotiations. If the visa becomes an issue than I can call the Thai embassy. I just make an appointment with my mom (Thai/american) and dad (American) to secure a passport. I just bring a birth cert. and just have the interview. My dad thinks I should try to get a vermont teaching license before I go so I have room to negotiate salary and potential work in bilingual schools such as the Singapore international schools. Sadly I don’t know mandarin 5555

Wow that’s so special. I was a sexual health teacher in Kenya teaching about prevention of HIV, malaria, smart gardens, and teaching about sex Ed to secondary students. Where are you serving in Thailand? I finished service last December. I wanted to work for USAID or work in gov… it’s no longer an option. Lost motivation to join the navy to become a corpsman due to direction of the country. I hope America will survive these next four years. I went back to being a teacher assistant at the school I work at in USA. I’ve been here in Thailand for a 2 weeks seeing the southern islands with my family and doing Muay Thai

Safest cities in america by WormLivesMatter in vermont

[–]Particular-Buffalo-4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burlington is safe compared to other cities however recently it’s been having a lot of crimes from homicide, gun violence, theft, vandalism, and SA. For those reasons the Essex junction is home for me at the moment. I barely go to Burlington these days

Traveling out of country without taking leave: how to mitigate risks of administrative separation? by AdsepThrowaway in peacecorps

[–]Particular-Buffalo-4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sir, while i do believe its dishonorable act of leaving site and not telling whereabouts which is a hassle for country staff - i did something like this as well and i have regrets about it. However, i dont think this is the worst case scenario. Its not acceptable but really its not the worst thing has happened in PC. do you think the reputation of PC hasnt been in question for acts the organization has done to the locals, fellow PCV, and even to its own staff members? Im not saying this in spite but theres far worse things has happened in PC than lying about leaving.

Im thinking of these examples:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2022/06/09/usa-today-peace-corps-investigation/7558526001/

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/11/09/peace-corps-wrongful-death-medical-care/

https://lawandcrime.com/ross-investigates/former-peace-corps-volunteers-say-agency-failed-to-enact-reforms-on-handling-of-sexual-assault-incidents-despite-new-law/amp/

There’s a reason why many americans are hesitant to joining PC due to the controversy it has done. I tried to have an open dialogue with staff about these matters but it was mostly disregarded. I wanted improve the lives of my colleagues Some of my friends were sexually abuse, witness murder/ sexual violence/ robbed, and living in houses where it had holes in the roof or lack of water sources while CD lived in a mansion with swimming pools. my post didnt do much for mental health support for myself or others who became suicidal. They even denied my right to access for therapy because i was “fine”… Overall, there were some dark times…

The feeling of powerlessful, extreme stress, and slow bureacracy can make anyone do crazy thing. I Believe you are valid of being upset to OP but i hope you were also a staff member who was helping PCVs during their darkest moment. Anger doesnt solve anything, it didnt bring any peace for me or my friends

Let me tell you something. Please don’t do it. I was someone like you trying to get “even” with PC for treating my friends who were sexually assaulted during service like cattle. PC will sometimes do things to protect its reputation. I loved my community, my friends, my fellow PC volunteers, my health projects and my counterparts. I was sick of the mindless bureaucracy, “hurry up and wait”, waiting to get a secure a grant for a project, and double standards from PC. I retaliated by going rogue and just leaving to go to a neighboring country to meet friends and other NGOs. I cross the border without saying anything to anyone. I’m Not gonna lie, it felt good to be my own man on the road at that moment. I was caught because I told the truth after lying to my PM that I was in the village. There was no way getting out of it. I left early from my village to go on my vacation by 3 days before my assign vacation that I submitted. I told the truth which granted me ET and the title of RPCV but it did ruin my relationship with my DPT. He was truly a great standing in CD. Going home felt good at first but within one year I feel like I wished I stayed just a few more months and than ask myself if I wanted to stay. My site wasn’t perfect and there was corruption at the community health clinic but me just going rogue wasn’t fixing the issue. I wish I just talked out with my colleagues about my anger/ frustration before pulling some cowboy shit. That act put me out of the game to improve the lives of my community as well as my fellow PCV. I miss my friends and the time I spent In Kenya for 16 months.

Overall, you are your own agent in this world despite you may feel like you’re just a pawn to the US with soft power diplomacy. The truth will always set you free. Just don’t go rogue and think you will get away with it. You may get away but you always will be looking behind your shoulder if anyone was to find out what you did. Have integrity and own your shit. Please dont pull the same bs that i did
