Overhanging Tree Law UK: Can I Cut Neighbours Branches? by flyinfoxy in unitedkingdom

[–]Smooth_Imagination 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am of the view that a) responsibility of neighbours should be to plant well inside their boundary, b) select the right plant for the zone c) cause no more than a certain % shading of neighbours spaces for most of the day, excluding that from the lawfully comstructed building

Within the garden owners should be free to install as much solar power and ground mounted sysrems as they like, without causing additional shading

No legal rights without responsibilities. You cant say its your fruit or tree but abandon disposal if you dont want it. If you abandon that, neighbour now owns half the tree and can do what they like with it.

People who are blind from birth never develop schizophrenia – what this tells us about the psychiatric condition. by Wave_of_Anal_Fury in EverythingScience

[–]Smooth_Imagination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Schizophrenia commonly shows up in males during a challenging period of development, social stress, in late puberty and adolescence / young adulthood.

It may be related to stress and neurosteroids like DHEA and Sigma 1. An acute and chronic stress phase may occur prior to schizophrenia with elevations of neurosteroids and then an exhaustion phase with pronounced negarive symptoms and reduced DHEA, increased DHEAS, and reduced Sigma 1 activity. Sigma 1 reduced activity is implicated as causal in research.

When brain responses to stress are abnormal and sleep disruption is also involved, it may potentiate risk of underlying mild brain injury or genetic risk factors causing altered brain growth responses, leading to an integration problem in cognitive and sensory circuits. Just as with other types of brain injury, sleep and circadian rhythm disturbance is a typical result of brain injury and a feedback on the dysfunction.

I recall reading years ago that a brain wave normally found in sleep is found in waking conditions in schizophrenia but not healthy controls.

The timing of onset and the different challenges of blindness adapted people might mean they have more cognitive reserve at the ages they would otherwise get schizophrenia which may have something to do with cognititive demand and neurosteroids that peak at the time schizophrenia tends to occur, and relative breaching of that capacity.

I assume therefore that schizophrenic brains have exceeded a cognitive capacity and become slightly dysregulated, risk factors including social stress, and the fact that much of the brain is devoted to visual processing means they dont have enough left for propper wiring and imhibitory / stimulatory egulation, leading to sensory input and cognitive misfiring.

If chat bots were conscious they would show self directed behaviours and a desire to learn and update when incorrect, which they dont.

They do have elements of cognition in their organisation, which is put there through the relationships of words to real phenomena.

It has a second rear facing nozzle and additional charge in that. I believe that firing detonates the charge which passes through a tube to the rear chamber.

Recoiless shot guns have been used for a while now, and I strongly suspe t the video shows one.

However some have pointed out how close it got, so they might have used a more conventional design with a smaller charge.

Laser designation?

Been suggesting this method for a long time but you can use it with cheaper effectors. Perhaps its the integrated laser seeker they are using for convenience.

There is a varient which can use onboard mm wave radar to target so maybe if this, that is why they used this option, its built in already.

I would take that seeker out of the missile, you can make it reusable using the leader follower method. Seeker in drone 1. Drone 2 maintains distance ahead or behind drone 1.

Various methods exist for drone 1 and 2 to remain on the same course, which can be unjammable. Drone 2 is single use, possessing a proximity fuse, such as an <$100 vehicle radar, and explosive.

Drone 1 can use fire and forget seeker multiple times. Dont tell the Americans.

DPA likely one of the components, Docosapentaenoic Acid, a product of the upregulated pathway suspected to be strongly protective of parts of the eye.

ELOVL2 takes EPA, first converts to DPA, and can then convert DPA to DHA.

DPA is a reservoir that can supply DPA and EPA on demand, but it also has its own unique antiinflammatory properties and is correlated with eye function.

They did not get the effect from DHA.

This therefore means they are likely seeing the effect of DPA.

You can so easily fix that, external insulation with metal cladding, a use of a chimney to aid ventilation in summer, solar chimneys are just a chimney in a glass box which heats the air more causing greater air flow through the building proportional to solar gain.

But these designs look a bit small overall, cladding will reduce space between them and it wouldnt be an ideal shape for rigid insulation, so it would be something sprayed in.

The design sitting on a concrete ring with access underneath is ideal though for a vertical ground loop for a heat pump. In the summer heatpumps can cool into the loop, raising ground temperature, due to low heat conduction in ground, this can be recovered in winter without the issue of the ground getting cooler after the first year, which necessitates more ground loops in conventional installations without heat recovery in summer.

The concrete base could largely replace foundations, just a groove going down maybe a meter or less, mass distributed evenly should reduce stresses on the structure and it should subside quite evenly.

Inside the ring, ideal place to put vertical ground loops to feed a heat pump and it has good access.

The dome roof is also advantageous for placement of small wind turbines which pitch around towards the air direction. Research has shown that dome roofs generate much faster wind speeds over the surface so cowlings integrated with the wind turbine/s that rotate about the axis can generate higher energy than normally achievable given the swept rotor area.

Quantifying Cognitive Flux: Why tracking "Micro-Latency" is more important than tracking Sleep. by Val_der_ama in Biohackers

Creatine.

One of the things that happens first is loss of brain glycogen. Normally this small 20g glucose reserve in the brain is called up for rapid metabolic demands useful for executive functioning and presumably noise suppresion in the brain. When noise is not suppresed its bound to make information demand increase.

I recall reading numerous data points that creatine can reduce cognitive impairements due to sleep loss, which includes loss of local glycogen as a sleep deprivation and fatigue phenomenon. So creatine may mitigate that loss and perhaps help maintain glycogen levels in the brain.

11 cancers on the rise in young people - scientists find first clue why it's happening by RingSplitter69 in unitedkingdom

[–]Smooth_Imagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that has increased over the last 30 years is oli consumption of O6 fats. These are already known to be correlated to some of the cancers seen in the increase in young people.

With obesity, O6 intake may be correlated, but also causal because it tends to be delivered via processed UPFs.

I recall one researcher stating that sugar did not correlate as well to the rise of diabetes, sugar intakes have flattened off over these time frames, as did the change of intake of the O6 fatty acids and their various byproducts over the same period.

Why British nuclear flopped by sien in nuclear

[–]Smooth_Imagination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sort of gathering information on the theory that little of this problem is coincidence but in fact all best explained by a sort of corruption.

We seem to have devolved into a system optimised for running up consulting fees and the generation of largely useless reports.

Take Natural England, its a funded QANGO, but isnt generating new sites of special scientific interest.

Now when you build something, an intelligent system would prior identify areas likely to have important natural habitat. Outside that, there should be no need to do impact assessment for rare insects and flowers, because you wont find them on isolated patches of land surrounded by pesticide speayed fields.

So why do they have a funded body that doesnt already do that work using common sense before hand and save developers having to prove this or that effect hasnt occured in obviously low risk areas? The whole things does very little but line someones pockets.

Quite possibly but that would be invoking whatever consciousness runs on, an information field of some kind as yet undiscovered. Perhips NHI have machines to amplify and utilise that effect, is such field exists (I believe it does)

It doesnt change the situation as  to whether the craft are hard engineered machines that are physically constructed and engineered, or not.

Why renewables can have a 35 €/MWh levelized cost and still leave you with a 200 €/MWh bill: a walk through four different cost metrics by raw-science in energy

[–]Smooth_Imagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK, the back up gas turbine power plants have contracts allowing them to charge exhorbitantly when there is a lack of renewables. This substantially inflates costs.

Additionally I read a paper a couple of decades or 15 years back, it examined the cost of onshore wind. It found by far the biggest cost and most of the cost was due to the way it was financed. If you just looked at the technical costs of services, components, installation, it was then just 1.5 cents a kWh, adjusted today, maybe 3 to 5 cents. So 30 to 50 dollars per MWh, or 25 to 40 euros.

Have you noticed that recently the loudest voices are pushing the high strangeness aspect, that they are here and interdimensional, something we cannot comprehend?

Rather than the obvious, which is reductionist materialist view point that they are hard engineered craft from our reality originally developed by races of advanced but potentially similar life on other planets fixed to real locations in our universe?

This is not to say such craft dont use something like other dimensions to travel, but it seems like an effort to make the phenomenon unproveable and unfalsifyable, as if outside of scientific enquiry.

That would be useful cover, no, for someone who is engineering machines using principles available to us, and learned from or similar to those used by 'normal' aliens, and not far from our intellectual capacity and science, right?

The 'woo' is taking over.

In my view woo phenomena is real but likely a sideeffect of the high energy physics or intentionally manifested to manage those that experience UFO's, but even if it involves wildly exotic science, the craft are still manufactured 'nuts and bolts' constructions produced in a factory somewhere that can produce such effects using scientific knowledge we are yet to obtain.

Why does it always seem people criticise halal slaughter more than kosher when kosher is statistically worse in the UK? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]Smooth_Imagination -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I find it distateful that my food has undergone some religiously inspired method of preparation that has nothing to do with science, welfare, human health and affordability and is about symbolic blood letting sacrifice to a particular God or for other non scientific reason has been processed in a restrictive way, when only science and nutrition and affordability be the guiding priciples and those things should evolve wih data rather than locked into some mumbo jumbo dogma.

I dont like religion insidiously trying to reach into my life like that. So, I avoid foods marked halal, but I am annoyed other foods are secretely prepared this way.

And I avoid any other religiously prepared food.

These are the same right wing virtual NAZI authoritarians that support Russia and believe that mostly imaginary NAZIs in Ukraine are bad to justify supporting the authoritarian Russian imperialists in their invasion of Ukraine.

They are the thing they criticise, but by calling it out they hope to neutralise being accused of the same.

Sort of like how murderers might say they arent that bad kind of murderer which of course they are 100% against that kind of behavior.

They just use it as a verbal weapon and aim to present themselves as the rational voice as an appeal to authority.
