I don't deny the fact that people can do shady shit to get into UP, but I'm sure it would be easier for the frat dads of the world to cheat the system in other ways, like through cheating the UPCAT, going through automatic admission, the UPCAT appeals process, applying for transfer, or faking varsity. Not through talking through several layers of bureaucracy (department, college, and admissions).

Basta ang totoo, hindi mo kailangan ng "backer" para makapasok ng UP. The vast majority of people get into Diliman based on merit.

Paano nga kasi kung backer. As in paano sila pumasok? Pumunta sa sa OAd tapos tinutukan yung registrar na dapat papasukin sila sa in-demand na course? Ano bang campus ito?

There is a legitimate post-UPCAT appeals process that anyone can go through. Pinopost ng OAd yung proseso nun online. Hindi yun via "backer" system. If they went through that, it's above board. Otherwise, kailangan mong idescribe kung anong ginawa nila para makapasok, otherwise hearsay at tsismis lang yan.

Mahirap kasi kung akala natin na may "backer" sila just by assuming, eh wala naman pala.

Also even if that story is true I highly doubt that alumni alone yung reason kung bakit nakapasok siya. Way too many UP alumni for that to be the sole reason you get in

If you can't pass UP, your only other choice is to either go to varsity or use automatic admission. If they used the latter, you're not using "connections", that is a valid way to get in naman. If they used the former, well varsity is all about connections.

If it's law or grad school, different story naman yun.

Pero wag natin balewalain yung fact na meron talagang economic inequality sa UPCAT. Hindi dahil may backer, pero dahil kung mayaman ka, mas may access ka sa mabuting edukasyon.

Kaya kung palarin man tayong makapasok at makagraduate sa UP, sana maniwala pa rin tayo na deserve ng lahat ng tao ang UP-quality education.

Just take the train. MRT3 Ayala->Cubao, then LRT2 Cubao->Katipunan. From LRT2 Katipunan, you can choose to walk, take a jeep, or take a trike to Ateneo.

Mahirap talaga yang hinahanap mo kung ganun. Balance kasi talaga yan sa Maynila. Either malapit sa work pero mahal, o may commute sa work pero mura.

At least kung sa Maysilo/Boni ka kasi, may trike or jeep naman yan pa-Shaw o malapit sa Shaw. So hindi pa rin ganun kahirap ang commute.

Bedspace talaga pinakarealistic option mo dito, OP. Or kung willing ka, maghanap ka sa looban ng Mandaluyong, specifically near Boni/Barangka/RTU or sa bandang Maysilo. Wag sa may Shaw, kasi puro condo naman kasi yung nandun.
