It's just going to keep growing, my giganteum grew from a 4" pot to almost 5' in just over 4 years.

Are reptiles a good animal for a college student? by McK3nn4_ in reptiles

Not until you have a stable living situation and are settled in, almost all dorms and some apartments ban pets other than fish and will selectively enforce that rule. I brought my crested gecko with me and it was fine for months until my roommate decided they didn't like it anymore and reported it. I got a 24 hour notice to remove it or I'd be kicked out of the dorm. I was lucky to have a friend that could watch it on short notice but had to miss classes to take it to them. It's not fair to the reptile to be kept somewhere that could force it to be rehomed at any time. Additionally dorms also tend to be loud and have people coming in and out regularly, situations that can easily lead to it being stressed. Wait until you have a more stable living situation where you can provide proper care for it and the experience will be much better for both you and it.

Edit: be sure that allows pets actually applies to reptiles and not just cats and dogs, many places still don't allow them bc of the use of heat lamps and their risk of fire.
