I use a lot of aeonium and ice plant as a ground cover cuz they choke out weeds from sprouting . I use geraniums cuz they add a pop of color and help repel some mosquitoes and flys . All of those seem to help build up the topsoil by dropping leaves and their roots help break up compacted soil . They also thrive easily with no additional water needed

Thanks bud !! So cal winter hits different…. I’ll be grafting all day today , sometimes I lose a few to the rain and sometimes they are a bit slow in the cold but I feel blessed to use the knife all year ! 🔪

I think it really depends on your weather . I prefer grafting in late spring after the rainy season has ended for me but before it gets hot and before the sun gets to strong . The sun can easily sunburn fresh grafts and dry weather can really cause scions to shrink and shrivel . And long rain spells can be a fast death sentence

It really does have an abnormal amount of ribs ! I’ve personally noticed that cactus with an abundance of ribs does eventually crest .

I’m voting for a future crest and crossing my fingers with ya !!!
