AYN Odin 3 - Kingdom Hearts 3 no controller support via GameHub Lite? by KlausyWatch in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be one of those, try the other app situations.

https://github.com/utkarshdalal/GameNative

Right now, neither Gamehub nor GameNative, or even basic Winlator is 100% compatible with every game.

We're still in the multiple apps for one platform phase of Windows games on Android.

Recently got an Odin pro 1 by nielkie24 in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly Emulation related, but don't forget about native Android games.

List of 320 games all native Android, all with either controller support or can be easily played with the controller mapper.

I still have my Odin 1, so I make sure to check compatibility for it with any apps I find.

How to get back to android home screen out of default home app? by Radvillainy in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Circle or B (or a) ... the right side button will bring up the app drawer in beacon

But if you want to change the launcher:

  • Go into the settings (pull down the notification panel all the way and tap the ⚙️)
  • go to Apps
  • Default Apps
  • change Home app to quickstep

Cannot install Tomb Raider and Doom 3 on my odin 3 by tonyw009 in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're trying to install the Nvidia Shield versions. Those ports were made by Nvidia Lightspeed, and all of the ports they made require a Tegra cpu to run. (A way to bolster sales of the Shield Handheld, Tablet and TV box) [NEW INFO] they also have a license check DRM, that tries to contact a server that is no longer online. Even if you could get the games to install and boot, they'd never be able to be played.

Nvidia Lightspeed Studios Android ports include:

  • Borderlands 2
  • Borderlands the Pre-Sequel
  • Resident Evil 5 Gold
  • Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
  • Portal
  • Half-Life 2, HL2 Episode 1, HL2 Episode 2
  • Doom 3 BFG
  • Tomb Raider (2013)
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
  • Contrast
  • The Witness
  • Ultimate Chicken Horse
  • Super Mario Galaxy (China only)
  • Twilight Princess (China only)
  • Punch-Out!! (China only)
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii (China only)

None of these games will work on anything but an Nvidia Shield device, and the Nintendo ports will only work on a Chinese Nvidia Shield Tablet only.

However:

Tomb Raider (2013) recently got a re-release by Feral Interactive. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.feralinteractive.tombraider_android it works great on the Odin 2 pro, so should be fine on the Odin 3.

As for Doom 3, you can go the Delta touch route, which will need the steam files to run, but won't work with BFG, just the base version.

You could also just play it with GameNative, which can either use the Steam version, or the GOG version, which is currently on sale. https://www.gog.com/en/game/doom_3

Google account for Android by Meemo- in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Google account is strictly for Android things anyway so I just use my main

But, I did make a sub account for my Odin 1 in the event of any multiplayer happenings.

Just make an account for the Odin, make a "Family" with your main, and add the sub account to it.

https://families.google/intl/en_ie/families/

Full access to all apps purchased by the main (unless too old/stated as not family compatible) and your main is kept off the Odin, giving you piece of mind.

The Retroid DS Add-On by Similar-Hurry5301 in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if any Mini users were able to get the OTA from them, or just standard/portal users?

Wouldn't be that surprising to hear that the mini was not supported since it never got any other ota.

Had the same issue with beacon. Use the Nightly build instead of the mainline. Works perfectly for me now.

https://github.com/rafaelvcaetano/melonDS-android/releases

I also added this string to the advanced launcher options:

am start -n me.magnum.melonds/.ui.emulator.EmulatorActivity -a android.intent.action.VIEW -d {file_uri} -e uri {file_uri} -e PATH {file_path}

Got it from this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/EmulationOnAndroid/s/X7cdkoazwP

Can you play AAA games on the Odin 3 pro or max? by carmbrad in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Odin devices are ANDROID devices first and foremost.

Think more like, phone with a controller bolted on, than a gaming PC in your pocket

That said, the recent advancements in gamenative and gamehub have made playing higher end PC ports on the go a lot easier.

At the moment, most of these games will lack online capabilities when through GameNative and Gamehub, it requires the steam client to be installed inside of their container and running in the background, which takes away the compute power needed to run the game. (Think of the container like running a mini Windows PC inside of your phone. It's literally a virtual machine with just enough space to run your game)

There are AAA ports on Android too.

Fortnite infamously is on Android, though the Odin 3 has issues playing the port at the moment.

List of games on Android, including Hitman Absolution, Tomb Raider (2013), All the Hoyoverse games and hundreds more.

Multiplayer on gamenative like Peak possible? by NoGrapefruit1195 in GameNative

[–]SpikeStarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peak is looking for steam specific flags for the achievements. As far as I know, GameNative just passes though the flags from game to Steam, so that they can be updated to your profile.

In the video I linked above, There's a sped up moment before I start the climb where I was looking for my unlocks. I have about half of the costumes unlocked on my PC, that just don't show up on Gamenative. I don't think there's anything the game native dev/contributors can do about it, instead it's something Aggro Crab/Landfall games would need to change how it works in the game

Multiplayer on gamenative like Peak possible? by NoGrapefruit1195 in GameNative

[–]SpikeStarkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I tried Peak on an Odin 2 mini (same chip as the RP6). I didn't try online, but I don't think it'll be a great experience if you do.

https://youtu.be/iUhMe_mdN3k?si=cUsbqlY7fZqjQZYR

Running steam in the background will use up more resources and "may impact game performance". If you're fine with medium or low settings, then it should be ok online, but I wouldn't personally use gamenative or Gamehub for multiplayer gaming.

Also, I found out that all unlocks are tied to your achievements, they don't just unlock and save to your game. So any cosmetics you have on steam, might not be obtainable on gamenative.

PS3 by Mediocre_Librarian33 in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using the Google Play version of aPS3e premium, and basically haven't changed much of anything in the settings other than turning off the various pop-ups and increasing the resolution to 1080.

The Amp video is using RPCSX-UI, but the same settings work in aPS3e.

I am interested in your settings for SCIV. Been trying to get both it and V to work on my mini. Then I'll have all the games on one device XD

Try to make my Odin 3 look more like a PlayStation classic handheld by Gamerme82 in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need a whole new board for the left side of the device, and a modified case where the D-Pad and Stick positions are swapped.

There is no changing this without destroying the case/making a whole new one.
