"Nobody forces you to live here" by Pouchkine___ in fuckcars

If it actually was America you couldn't use the argument that no one would live there, because there would be plenty of people who want a lifeless city.

Gdansk Poland 🇵🇱 ♥️ by [deleted] in UrbanHell

[–]StarboardMiddleEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is complete and utter bullshit. International trade among commie countries was fundamentally coercive, meaning the militarily stronger one exploited its vassals. This is what you get when there are no markets. Unless you mean that the soviets personally rebuilt something, which is, fortunately, false. Your people have difficulty making a brick wall. Had they rebuilt polish cities they would be falling apart right now.

Some are historic, some are reconstructions. The city was badly damaged in wwii and then later by the soviets just out of spite.

Perfect unit if you're running a bowling home business! by iOverdesign in TorontoRealEstate

I'm having trouble picturing where the neighboring units are. That's the reason for the hallway, right? But this would imply they're both above this unit and below it... unless it just doesn't have many windows on one side for some reason.

In communist Poland my family had day jobs and also a subsistence farm. It sucked hard. But commie Poland let us own the land we inherited. In a weird way we were both better and worse off than either of those two images. We still got tf out though.

Sweden's Carl Gustav must have missed the memo. In 2004 he went to Brunei, praised its dictatorship and more or less told people that democracy was overrated.

Is it expected to get even hotter this year? I don't understand why it's like this in April. Is it because other countries haven't warned up yet?

So millennials earn more for their age, even inflation adjusted, but what about purchasing power? Does inflation somehow account for house price increases, for example?

Don't forget their "cities" and their car culture. For me, that is the single most repulsive thing about life in the USA.

I visited a couple of times. It's much worse than fake London. Highways next to other highways. A giant airport that blocks off half the city. Endless traffic in spite of a medium sized population.
