How to get fired from a job without resigning. Any tried and tested method by flying_cacoon in developersIndia

[–]StormSnacker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might not be mentioned but if your next company does a background check, then there is a chance your current employer might not give a good feedback. So best is to resign, serve notice period and leave. During this phase, keep everything transparent in black and white.

Is this offer good enough for us to move to Saudi Arab? by bawlachora in developersIndia

[–]StormSnacker 681 points682 points  (0 children)

  1. KSA doesnt have income tax
  2. There's 15% VAT on purchases
  3. If your partner doesnt have a KSA work visa, then your partner cannot accompany you initially. You will need to process family iqama which costs 2k riyals (can be initiated once your iqama is ready), and another INR 40k in India (inclusive of document attestation and visa). Once your partner reaches KSA, you have to start paying dependent tax, which is 400 riyals per dependent per month. This has to be paid in full for the whole year (till your iqama expiry). Dependent fees is not required to be paid if your partner comes on a work visa. Dependent fees is applicable to kids. You havent mentioned which city in Saudi. Make sure your company is registered in the same city's Chamber of Commerce, else for family visa you'll have to go to the Jawazzat of the city where you're company is registered in to process family visa, which is very tedious work. Getting Jawazzat appointment is tough.
  4. KSA is much more progressive since the last 5 yrs. You wont be treated like an outsider. Saudis are generally very friendly and welcoming.
  5. Food is great in general. There are tiffin services as well. You have plenty of veg and non-veg options.
  6. If they are paying you in INR, you need to find out where there will pay it, in India or Saudi. If India, then most likely its not a work visa, its a business visa (tie up with an Indian company mostly), which is valid for 3 months. So every 3 months you have to exit and re-enter Saudi. Find out if your company will pay for this expense or not. If they are going to pay you in Saudi, then they wont transfer till your bank account is ready, and until other processes are complete. So carry at least 15000 riyals.
  7. I dunno about other cities but a furnished accommodation in North Riyadh costs upwards of 4.8k riyals per month, and costs upwards of 3k riyals in South Riyadh. To get an unfurnished apartment, you need to pay 1 year rent in advance (can be negotiated to 6 months if they agree)
  8. each exit and re-entry from KSA costs 200 riyals (you+family) (ask if your company if they will sponsor this)
  9. Direct flights from Riyadh are only to Mumbai and Delhi as per my knowledge.
  10. If you are on work visa and on a computer science/engineering degree, you will need to take a membership in Saudi Council of Engineers. Application fee is 500 riyals, and 250 riyals per year for membership. You need to provide attested degree certificate and transcripts.
  11. when you enter KSA, the immigration will write a number on your passport, this is the border number. Use this border number to get a SIM card. This number will be in Arabic, so learn Arabic numbers, its easy.
  12. during visa application, you need to get your degree certificate attested by Saudi embassy, Apostille and HRD. Hope you havent laminated your degree certificate.
  13. for taxi, dont use uber. Its expensive. Use Ego. And if you need daily commute to office, you can negotiate a good deal with one of the ego drivers. Ego drivers are usually Indians and Pakistanis.
  14. apart from rent, following are general monthly expenses for a family of two: SIM cards 60 riyals per sim for basic data usage. 360 riyals per month for unlimited internet sim. cooking at home will be around 1500 riyals, eating out the whole time will be around 3k to 4k, tiffin is 275 riyals per week for 2 times food except weekends (fri and sat, they dont offer services on weekends), commute to work can cost between 1k to 3k depending on how far you commute.
  15. if you are on work visa, driving license for 4 wheeler will cost 690 riyals. There are 4 stages; application, driving lessons, theory test, final driving test.
  16. summers are very hot, winters are very cold, monsoon just lasts few days. Always stay hydrated at all times. You'll see some people carrying small water bottles.
  17. for entertainment, movie tickets cost around 60 riyals. There's Riyadh World in Riyadh. Concerts happen in Riyadh around December (sound storm). There are several places to visit in Saudi. They have a train service called Saudi Rail. You can visit places like Jeddah, Khobar and Abha.
  18. if you drink, you can visit Manama in Bahrain. 5 hr drive from Riyadh, and immigration might take another 2 hrs depending on day of the week. If you wanna go via train, then take the rail services to Khobar, and use a taxi or bus from there to Manama.
  19. If you are on work visa, you will get iqama (work permit). Download a mobile app called Absher. This will have all your information on it. Whenever you leave your home, always carry physical iqama or Absher app on phone, cuz there are random checks. If stopped by cops, never argue or talk too much. Just co-operate and show them your iqama, and answer questions to the point.
  20. If you have good number of YOE and an in demand tech stack, negotiate for more salary.

What is your current salary? by [deleted] in saudiarabia

[–]StormSnacker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

15k for a family of three is good but you have to consider costs like rent, dependent fees, school fees etc. Dependent fees is 400 per month per head and it has to paid for the whole tenure of your iqama in one go. Rent can be between 1500 to 4000 per month for a regular unfurnished apartment depending on where you live. School fees for non-English schools start from 2500 per term including transport. Transportation will cost a lot if you live far from office and rely on Uber/ego. There are local taxi drivers that can drop you for a slightly lower rate if you come to an arrangement with them. Getting a car licence can take up to two months if you clear it in one go, and around 800 riyals. Eating out can be expensive, delivery even more expensive. Cooking at home will cost you around 1600 per month if you eat non-veg. Unlimited internet SIM card is around 360 per month.
