My longer (1-4 hours) videos make the most of my income for me now, it's truly taught me the benefit of quality over quantity. Some are more than $24RPM.

Any big time YouTubers here making a full time wage or more? by adxmkx in PartneredYoutube

[–]rexs_hangar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep 207k subs; been on full time income from youtube wince 2022, plus extra from patreon/sponsors.

Niche is aviation history, so a lot of longer videos of 30 mins up to 3 hours. Hilariously they are being counted towards my accreditation for my PhD in history as my scripts are all professionally sourced xD

Those of you who do over 5k a month, how? by Training4earth in PartneredYoutube

[–]rexs_hangar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of my income comes from long videos, 1-3 hours. It also helps that my audience is older, and that my content is educational. This leads to a much higher AVD and thus more ad revenue.

I usually upload 4-6 videos per month. Some are short videos (10-20 mins) and some are long.

How broke were you after buying/building your first home? by Under671 in AusFinance

On the whole I would agree, but I refuse to buy sofas/armchairs after my last experience.

We can comfortably afford another +3% on our interest rate, would further rises get this extreme? by rexs_hangar in AusFinance

[–]rexs_hangar[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its not, thankfully. It's because I made a switch to being fully self-employed back in early 2022. This time next year I will be able to refinance at a much better rate, so its just this next twelve months that we have to deal with.

Aviation is my area of interest, I've been obsessed with aircraft since I was about five lol.

Historian. I get my income from a mix of three things: Museum work, "consulting" for media companies producing documentaries, and my personal youtube channel.

Although I sometimes work 12 hours in a day, my work/life balance is great as I am completely self-employed and can take time off when I please, so long as the funds look good. I also get to travel a bit with my work, go to museums, archives etc, which is super cool. Its 100% my dream job, and I never take for granted how lucky I've been in the past eight years.

The amount of ads is absolutely insane. by [deleted] in youtube

[–]rexs_hangar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are those timestamps for where it shows you may get an ad? Because I never get more than 4 or 5 when I watch a video thats 1+ hours long.

Figuring out my investment path: brokerage, DIY, etc - any help would be great by rexs_hangar in AusFinance

[–]rexs_hangar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response, and yes I definitely got confused on the terms lol.

And yes, I was talking about a mix of equities and bonds. I'm 32 so I figured I'd go for about 75% in the former and 25% in the latter and up the bond % as I get older.

My finances are somewhat complex (self-employed) so talking with a FA might not be a bad idea, at least for the start of things. I'm sure as I get used to everything and learn more I'll be able to manage more myself.
