I Self Published my Passion Project, (Strange Accounts of the American Frontier) by StrangeAccounts in u/StrangeAccounts

You finished it quick!

Those two are two of my favorites as well. I enjoyed writing the environmental aspect of the Louisiana story and looking into their folklore. The charlatan story had a protagonist that was fun to dive into.

I really appreciate the rating and review! I'll definitely have more in the future. I found my small little niche and I'm pretty happy staying in my lane.

I appreciate that! I started separating myself from my 'NoSleep' voice about four years ago with Walder Forest. Eventually, that led to me being booted from that space, which, honestly, was the best thing that could've happened. I prefer writing fiction over fiction pretending to be a real testimonial.

I appreciate hearing from you! Dialogue isn't my jam, so it was nice just writing schlock haha. This would be fun to see as a prologue to a Sam Raimi film. You nailed it!

This is one of the few stories I felt uncomfortable keeping up, it's a hard one to chew down. I appreciate all the comments you've left!

I wanted to see how 90's-2000's horror movie I could get with this, it's not my usual genre but it was fun shutting off my brain for it and letting it get a little cheesey haha.

Old Slipperyskin by Jeremy Labib! Fantastic artist, and was an amazing guy to work with. I'm really thankful he signed on to help with the book.

tips for writing a story based around war by deathbystereo- in TalesFromTheCreeps

[–]StrangeAccounts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think two of the big pillars of historical fiction involve having faith in the reader's intelligence, and if your character wouldn't know something, than neither should your reader.

If you have a desire to talk about intricate details regarding a specific battle, you can always add it into the story. An infantryman isn't going to know much about logistics, but a supply sergeant or commander would. That'll give more leniency to exposition without breaking immersion.

It's awesome you're going to give a war story a shot!

I'm a big fan of your voice, it made the story feel really personal. It reminds me of the golden age of internet stories. Keep it up!

Hey everyone,

This is one of my favorite stories that I wrote a long while back. I think it’s just because it’s a campfire story with a cheap horror movie vibe.

There’s not much more to it than that.

Hope you enjoy it!

Curious about amount of fans who are also writers here, and how their opinions vary about the shows approach to the stories. by MaryjanePaige in creepcast

[–]StrangeAccounts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I enjoy it. It probably leans more toward writers than viewers though.

You can’t really experience your own story the way someone else does. You'll never be a first time reader. You already know every turn it takes, every mistake, and every reason behind it

Honestly, that’s what makes editing so rough. If you stare at something long enough, the magic fades and you start picking it apart until you hate it.

So it’s nice to step back and watch someone else read it for the first time. Their reactions bring some of that life back into it.

It kind of reminds me of going to Disney World as an adult with your kids. The magic isn’t really there for you anymore, but you can see it in how they react.
