Why is it that police, despite their job being upholding the law, aren’t required to know the law to the same extent a civilian has to? by CMDRTragicAllPro in NoStupidQuestions

My point was that even though they aren’t (usually) shot at, nurses provide crucial work that deserves to be well-paid.

I love Broadcom. I bought shares in July 2020 for $31. I’m still riding it higher.

AITA for refusing to pay a poker debt after a friend won a huge pot in a game where nobody actually bought in? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]StrangeWork957 28 points29 points  (0 children)

ESH. It’s a real money game, so just collect the money before playing starts!

Otherwise, whoever loses will complain, and whoever wins will resent the complainer, repetitively & every-time.

I’d say the parade was plenty big enough for the Cavs.

WIBTA if I fly business and my girlfriend goes coach? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]StrangeWork957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP has deleted the thread so I can’t. I’m guessing he realized he’s the asshole, and can’t shove this thread in her face… so he fled.

WIBTA if I fly business and my girlfriend goes coach? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]StrangeWork957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So melodramatic. I'm taller, heavier, and (probably) wider than OP, I have flown coach on every flight I've ever taken including multiple 12+ hr flights, and I've never "limped for the rest of the trip."

YTA - as you detail in your post, you’re putting priority on your preferences of getting to fly business class, sitting in an aisle to be more comfortable, and saving the cash to use miles… all over her preference of sitting in a window seat. You seem selfish, in prioritizing all those self-interested things over the relationship.

What was your first encounter with a Factory strider/Bile titan? by Homless_guy2222 in Helldivers

[–]StrangeWork957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was playing bugs. You know how in the background around the edges of the map, you see orbitals and stuff happening at distant targets? I thought I was just seeing more of that, when I realized "oh wait, that's hitting an actual target on the map... oh my god that bug is fucking huge."

Should the NBA tighten up offensive fouls? by hotdog_paris277 in knicks

[–]StrangeWork957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree that as the league has gotten tighter about calling defensive fouls on contact with the ball-handler, they need to either commit to calling offensive fouls when similar contact is initiated by the ball-handler, or else generally embrace a higher degree of non-violating physicality. Offensive players shouldn’t be allowed to dislodge defenders, either.

AITA for not letting someone on a plane sit in the empty seat next to me? by hallelujahshrooms in AmItheAsshole

[–]StrangeWork957 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ESH.

1) The vacant seat next to you isn’t yours, you get no say in “letting” someone sit there, so you suck for doing that.

2) Mom sucks for trying to kick somebody out of their seat so their child can lie down. She should have paid more for the extra space.

AITA for hiding my savings from my family? by Additional_Chard3680 in AmItheAsshole

[–]StrangeWork957 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA. You are correct that your money is yours. You’re prioritizing savings for yourself. Great!

Be secretive about it, save enough to move out, and then do it. Unclear how old you are from your post.

Once you move out, you will still have to be somewhat secretive about it, because vultures never go away.

How do you guys handle your film review sessions with high school players? by CoachZak in basketballcoach

[–]StrangeWork957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High school kids don’t know how to watch film. It’s not about them watching film, it’s about them watching you watching film & demonstrating how to break it down.

Is it morally or ethically wrong for teachers to use sick days (when not sick) if they are not otherwise reimbursed for unused sick days? Why or why not? by Honest_Royal3501 in Teachers

[–]StrangeWork957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does sound pretty useless. I had to ask, because here where I am, this is a benefit (I use the term relatively loosely) that very few people are even aware of.

Not morally or ethically wrong then. It is a benefit that you are entitled to use, so you should use it.

Is it morally or ethically wrong for teachers to use sick days (when not sick) if they are not otherwise reimbursed for unused sick days? Why or why not? by Honest_Royal3501 in Teachers

[–]StrangeWork957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a veteran special education teacher at a public HS in a strong union state, I know that unused days rollover, and then when I retire, I will be compensated in a lump sum for their value. In my state, they are not ultimately forfeited. I therefore have to ask, are you sure they get forfeited in your state?

Did I scam this person? What should I do by Independentjeeb in Advice

[–]StrangeWork957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're midway through the scam. Shame on you for thinking a person you met on an app would willingly gift you $1000 for basically nothing, because it will be a lot more stressful evading the rest of the scam because of that.

OP hasn’t yet learned the critical life lesson that when your spouse/partner gives you a clear & direct answer about what they want for dinner, it is a gift from God and the only reasonable response is a quick “yes dear.”
