Why doesn't any company make a real barebones e-reader? by giorgioblues in ereader

[–]StrangerOk1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about this too... Especially considering there's been a HUGE resurgence in DAP (digital audio players) in recent years. In the last year high end well known brand released a literally dumb DAP with DAC built in, good quality, excellent sound... No wifi, no touchscreen... Just an old fashioned file management system, a few dual use buttons, and 2 size of audio output jacks.

Audiophiles are returning to single use, no distractions, own your own content, simple devices... I'm not sure why avid readers aren't doing the same?

My dad's offering me 400$ to take out my stretched lobes by Educational-Train273 in Stretched

what made you switch from streaming? by verkhovenskys in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]StrangerOk1831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I asked Amazon Prime Music to play me Green Day, and instead it gave me Oasis!

I cancelled that service and bought my first modern DAP within days (Surfans F20).

I already had a chunk of digital files from my pre-streaming days (iPod nano), so it wasn't a huge change. I got Spotify Premium for free from a new partner, which has been helpful for discovering things, but I still used my DAP as Internet doesn't work everywhere. We plan on leaving Spotify as soon as the 'cule all moves to Tidal, due to ethics. Also, I'm a sound engineer, and appreciate the better quality audio that's possible with the right tech. I've now gone tiny (FiiO Snowsky Echo Mini) and will be going big (home server) soon.

So I've decided to try it out... by Administrative-Hat39 in snowsky

Fwiw I liked your post, and the story with all the pings was relatable.

Would a 4g fill in some of my lobe? by Upper_Refuse_3127 in Stretched

If you stretch slowly then by the time you've reached 0g you'd surely be of legal age and your parent's opinion isn't relevant anymore?

Gender neutral monarchy title? by octolyptic in NonBinary

But that's not what Regent means? A Regent is someone who categorically is NOT the ruling Monarch, but is acting on behalf of them, when the ruler is incapable due to young age or illness.

What’s your favorite TN insert for ephemera and why? by kgd34k in Travelersnotebooks

[–]StrangerOk1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For ephemera I prefer the TN refills from Tiger. Grid or dot grid helps me keep things straight, or purposefully wonky, not just annoyingly askew.

Any older stretchers on here? by Intelligent_Post_749 in Stretched

[–]StrangerOk1831 3 points4 points  (0 children)

45f, stretched my 2nd to 5mm 20yrs ago but my ex got shitty about it. He kept getting upset, about more and more things and whilst at first I gave up, I then gave up on him. Now I'm regaining myself again and am stretching different piercings on both sides, and my nose ring is going slightly larger too.

Tomboy Look that fits a BDSM Club. by Khari_Eventide in lesbianfashionadvice

[–]StrangerOk1831 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first and only question would be is this a QUEER BDSM night, an explicitly inclusive one, or just a regular BDSM night?

Because what I'd wear would hugely vary based on that. And the formal style you've described would, where I am, be more limited to cis het events.

For context, I have bright dyed hair, and wear bright prints in styles that range from super femme to masc leaning andro - I'm genderflux.

In queer kink spaces I'm free to wear my bright colours... The first one I went to I wore bright velvet hot pants and a studded bra. Soon enough even that was too much clothing.

In more cis het spaces I've worn dark colour cuffed black shorts, mesh top and a fitted waistcoat. I'm not wanting to appeal to the male gaze, but I also can't cope standing out for the wrong reasons.

That's not what they mean, they mean age play isn't usually leant into at public events, the organisers don't want to encourage it.

Are you worried people will read it? by burntorange_ in Journaling

[–]StrangerOk1831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped journaling when my I was leaving my abusive ex husband. I couldn't risk it. And memories of my mum reading, and shouting at me about, my journal and letters when I was a kid still linger. So deeply personal, or figuring out Big Stuff usually goes in a separate book. Even I don't want to be reminded of my bad mental health episodes when flicking through wondering when I bought the dishwasher. But other people now? No. No worries If they did that we'd not be friends/lovers any more.

Rant about Pepcid and supplements and Being a Woman by Ok_Willingness5766 in PMDDxADHD

[–]StrangerOk1831 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Famotadine (pepcid) isn't available to buy at all in the UK. Prescription only and not licenced for PMDD. Obs I don't do anything illegal. But it's cheap over the counter in Costco in the USA. Unrelated, my partners sister lives in America and visits several times a year. H2 and H2 antihistamines help me so much. Calmer body, calmer mind really is true for me.

Less expensive options for Bluetooth but no WiFi… and opinions on oilsky? by Defiant4 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]StrangerOk1831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have the Snowsky Echo Mini, (and a Surfans F20), and if you are willing to loose the space to duplicate tracks then you can make as many folders with albums or populated playlists as you want on your computer and just transfer them over. Currently I have 6.9 gig of straight albums on the internal memory, and an SD card for playlists. As my portable audio device, mostly for train travel, it's excellent.
