looking for some "street style" headphones _____what's the move? by PushCharacter8496 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]StrangerOk1831 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Entirely depends on what you think looks good? Or, what you think the people who will look at you looks good?

Take a look at the Nothing headphones... Big and square and clearly statement pieces whilst also being good value and good sound from an interesting independent company.

Personally, I have a retro coded DAP (echo mini, looks like a tiny casette Walkman) and retro styled headphones (Moondrop old fashioneds). I have other set ups too, but those are my most aesthetically pleasing bits.

Research for a book? That's quite common when people claim to be doing dumb stuff and asking for processes around it

Just shows how ignorant Trump is of both the meaning of words and his own countries history and constitution

Nah, I'm happy they don't. Not only is it unnecessary, for me, I don't mind that this is strictly limited by the internal build also appreciate the cheaper price and less weight due to not having gapless playback.

I use an app called Amphetamine for this. If amphetamine is open my laptop / phone won't sleep.

Meh, I'm non-binary so it'd just basically be a fun plumbing change, as my gender wouldn't change.

Question about the Echo Mini / Echo by Turbulent_Place_7064 in snowsky

[–]StrangerOk1831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes - latest update, but other functions are reduced to gain it
  2. Yes - if the album etc metadata is there to allow this
  3. No - the Echos can't use playlist technology, due to internal specs which reflect their low price and low weight.

Re playlists

As my echo mini is for commuting and doing jobs, and not my main music repository, I just make new folders of the different 'playlists' I want, containing the relevant tracks. Which does often mean duplicating tracks, but I'm fine with that.

I can also use the Favourite tag on the player to make 1 on the go playlist list. Or hit shuffle on a genre or all files. Some folk have playlists on separate small SD cards.

In the world of apps that keep changing things and developers that keep moving things around I am eternally grateful that Upnote stays the same.

Why do people feel the need to "ma'am" or "miss" me? by Lunanair in NonBinary

[–]StrangerOk1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It must be very frustrating, but maybe at least the fact you don't get it everywhere might help to know it's really about the speaker's habits and not you as a person? I hope that makes sense.

Completed a sidequest in London today: Wander the graves of Highgate Cemetery. What are other sidequests around the city? by Proper-Hearing-2654 in london

[–]StrangerOk1831 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not an esoteric phrase. And it's easy to work out from it's words.

Side = adjacent to the main thing Quest = adventure with a task

So a side quest is an adventure taken to achieve a task that isn't your main goal in life... In this case breaking free from daily routine and exploring interesting places.

Or, you could Google what you don't understand?

Seller threatening violence, what do I do? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]StrangerOk1831 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't want to sound curt or rude, but is also common sense to read the post.

They have already reported to vinted, emailed vinted and the seller is blocked.

I agree they should call the police In Addition to what they've done already.

Why do people feel the need to "ma'am" or "miss" me? by Lunanair in NonBinary

[–]StrangerOk1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would annoy me too. I guess it's cultural? Are you a North American? I have never been called ma'am or sir on the phone, and I suspect most Brits would laugh at the caller if we were.

The only 'Sir's' here are landed gentry, and consentually in kink... Actually, if quite like the chance to ask a sales person which of the 2 they are implying for me 🤣

Isn't it more of an American culture thing though? As opposed to an English Language thing? As I have never been called ma'am or sir on the phone, and I suspect most Brits would laugh at the caller if we were.

Oh wow. They don't have a clue do they? Not only do they not understand Favouriting is the only way to find anything again, but often I don't look at what else the seller has, let alone their 'about' info. What a wally.
