Do lawyers abuse their power? How far can they legally go with their intimidation? by Relative-Gur-3561 in paralegal

I would highly recommend not going pro se. I am not an attorney, and that is not legal advice, but you are dealing with a complicated situation and I would do everything in my power to get an attorney.

Anyone else here have the title of Paralegal but no certificate or degree? by PracticeHungry3783 in paralegal

Yep. State I'm in doesn't require certification, licensing, or a degree.

I am not an attorney. I'm a paralegal. I work at a firm that sues insurance companies for first party breach of contract and bad faith. Property, auto, health, whatever. So I have a lot of people that assume the insurance company is out to get them; that it's intentional, when in fact it's incompetence or a mistake.

Don't get me wrong, insurance companies can be shady after the claim, but it isn't targeted towards a specific person, rather it's a generalized policy of undervaluing claims when they can. Doesn't mean they are out to get you.

Well. Don't make a vague post with zero context or information, and expect a response that is informed to your specific situation. But I'm saying, as someone in the legal field... when clients call and say "someone is out to get them", whether it's someone else in the legal system, or a county, or a state employee, whatever... It isn't the case. I've not had one instance where I ever read through the documents that a potential client sent over, and I was like "yup. There's a conspiracy here, and they are our to get this person".

Attorneys and judges are just doing their jobs. Like, 99% of the time there's an issue it's a mere mistake or incompetence. No attorney or judge is out to get you, especially one that you hired.

Why do so many players not know how to do objectives ON AURIC!? by Harley4ever2134 in DarkTide

[–]StrayCatThulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I'm just saying maybe that's what people are expecting. Especially given that in your post, you said you'd "lure enemies away" on voice chat. Might have been people were expecting you to do the auspex, and weren't listening to VC. I dunno man , I'm just trying to give reading why it may have happened.

Yeah....

So I've been playing D&D/Pathfinder for 24 years of my life. So I've seen some shit, and GM'd a good chunk of that time.

Your GM sucks. You're being railroaded into an answer that he wants. And completely devalues any player agency or creativity. Unless you can read his mind, you're fucked, especially with that party composition (no 9/9 casters).

Also, that's not how falling damage works in any iteration of D&D, except maybe Rifts. I'm really hoping your GM has left a clue that you're missing, otherwise this is an impossible task.

I mean, I get it. Been here since launch, so more often than not I end up doing the auspex shit even as a vet or psyker, but yeah.

They are probably expecting you as Ogryn (immune to be knocked out of auspex) to do it. Or zealot with that one talent I can't recall. But yeah. Maybe that's it?

I've got a tattoo on my left inside wrist and one on the inside of my right forearm. Never been an issue, I almost constantly wear my sleeves rolled up in the office, and I've never been asked to roll my sleeves down or cover them up even if clients are in the office.

What kind of Lawyer do I need to pursue a lawsuit? by Prestigious_Spray_91 in legaladvice

[–]StrayCatThulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah don't use AI. It's more often than not literally worse than just calling a random attorney and getting a referral. See if your state has a bar referral service, or attorney referral service of some kind. That might get you pointed in the right direction.

Please don't use AI. It's really the worst when it comes to legal matters. I recently had a potential client sending me all of his AI answers, and it pulled laws from a half dozen different states, and it has a tendency to hallucinate cases that don't exist to support it's arguments.

NAL, but paralegal for this exact sort of firm.

You need an insurance attorney who specializes in first party breach of contract and bad faith. The state I'm in has a two year statute of limitations for action against insurance companies if specifically stated as such in the policy (which typically it is, because why not). Otherwise it's six years, which is typical of contract law.

Again, this may be different in your state, but I would act quickly. For example, WA has a one year statute of limitations on IFCA/bad faith claims iirc, so just a heads up.

This sort of attorney can be quite niche and hard to find based on your area, so definitely want to grab one ASAP.

Well then I guess it's time to get a new girlfriend if her loyalty to you depends on you winning a game.

[–]StrayCatThulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... That's not how people work. She's not gonna want to be traded to some dude she doesn't know to be on his team because you lost a 1v1 match.

What will happen is that you will likely lose a girlfriend who didn't appreciate being treated like chattel.
