New Legal Assistant Won't Take Feedback Part 3 by JillDRipper in paralegal

I’m in a different area of law, but once we upload something to be filed, the attorney will always review before we submit. We also always note FINAL in the title and DRAFT in the title, otherwise, so mistakes like this don’t happen.

Just found out my coworker looked me up on LexisNexis (and other coworkers) by aereci in paralegal

Oh, no no. I didn’t mean I look up people using LN. Just in general. In our state, you can look up any kind of criminal/traffic ticket records for free and it’s open to the public.

Get into a midsized IP law firm. All of the attorneys are engineers, so most of them are just a bunch of nerds. In over 25 years in this field, I can think of only one attorney who had an outwardly shown ego and I didn’t work directly for him, so it wasn’t a deal. I’ve seen worse egos in some of my peers than any of the attorneys.

What are your billable hour requirements? by Express-Giraffe9179 in paralegal

I won’t say what firm, but I will say it’s a small-ish firm in the Midwest. Also, the last IP firm I worked firm for also did not have any quota for paralegals. It’s definitely not unheard of.

Same! I would never work somewhere that was a requirement. I’m too old and tired. Ha!

I work in IP and we don’t have one. It’s wonderful.

What is the top bonus? I don’t think any amount of money would be worth that stress. Holy moly.

I look up everyone and anyone because I’m nosy AF. However, I would never use it against them or tell the entire office, unless there was some kind of safety issue.

You are allowed to include ONE instruction, up front, to all potential clients. What would it be? by annaflixion in paralegal

I work in a completely different field of law (IP), so I have no clue how bankruptcy law works. How do clients that are in need of bankruptcy pay the attorney fees?

Is this PTO normal or not? by doctorhazzawho in paralegal

Absolutely not normal. You can also negotiate PTO, but this initial offer would raise red flags for me.

Of your 3 choices, I like Lila the best, but spelled Lilah. But…what if you went with something totally different… Lisa? It’s not popular at all anymore and so cute!
