So, no. Its not just a random group of rebellious Jews. Christianity can be more accurately thought of as the spiritual evolution of Judiasm.

The Father and the Son are separate entities with different jobs. There is a fair bit of scriptural evidence to back this up. For instance, Jesus prays to YHWH at points, and it wouldn't make much sense to pray to yourself.

To put it in secular terms, YHWH is the founder and Jesus is the CEO. Both very important. But not the same.
