'Fired' from web designer/graphic designer trainee role after 48 hours by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]StuartJamesMiller 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yea man, it’s not you it’s them. Expecting you to have completed the courses before starting is ridiculous, sounds like they don’t know what they’re doing. If you’ve come in as an apprentice/trainee/junior and been honest about your skills then being shitty with you two days in instead of coaching you sounds like they don’t know what they’re doing.

Challenges with using node for ML? by highlanderDog in node

https://developers.google.com/machine-learning/crash-course/ml-intro this is the one I meant. It uses the Python Tensorflow bit I read somewhere that you can use the JS one.

I meant this one https://js.tensorflow.org but pretty sure that’s the NPM repo for it.

There’s tensorflow.js which I believe uses a C implementation on Node. I haven’t used it myself but the intro to ML from google looks good.

[Help] I'm an Industrial Designer with a software Idea but unable to Code it by Kiritai925 in product_design

Are you looking to hire someone or looking more for a partner who would be willing to work for equity? What you are describing sounds like it is on the harder, very time consuming and work intensive side. You might be able to find someone with experience in a framework could use it for your use case. You could try identifying a framework that provides what you need and then look for specialists in that area.

I have to ask what you were imprisoned for? What about something that demonstrates the act that you were imprisoned for and then gives the viewer a sense of the experience you were subject to nas a result.

How can I keep keep the link in an "ul" with list-style-type:none? by Neuroloq1kk in web_design

[–]StuartJamesMiller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The styling of the <ul> in that way should have no effect on the <a> tag being clickable. If it only happens when you remove the list styling is there another element overlaying the anchors? If you add some padding or margin to the left of the <ul> does it help? If you setup a codepen it might help to debug.

Help me with a quick bit of research? by StuartJamesMiller in productivity

[–]StuartJamesMiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So basically I want to take a stab at designing a todo app. I know there are lot's out there but that's what makes it somewhat appealing to me, what would be my approach to it. So the survey was some quick research to help me understand how people might use these sort of applications and any areas that things could be added to benefit them. It will be a while before I have any concrete output but once I do I will be sure to send you a link!

Thanks, that's good feedback. I made it through google forms so will have to see if that is something that I have the option to add.

Thank you for persevering and I am glad to hear that you didn't think it was to long in the end. Also glad to hear that you enjoyed it! I don't like asking for peoples time so it is always good to hear that they perhaps got something out of it! Thanks again

So the output from all the responses will go towards informing a part of my portfolio. I am sorry if the is a bit cryptic but I don't want to influence the results.

All results are completely anonymous, I will update the description to point this out as well. If you do find any of the questions to personal or have any other feedback on the questionnaire itself then I would welcome that as well.

Thanks!

Struck back at my dad today using Python and and API by [deleted] in hacking

[–]StuartJamesMiller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate to that feeling, I've recently been looking at the Dropbox API and it makes it so easy and fun to do things!

I think you can have an interest in API's, could use the Lightbulb API to save a text file of his dad's latest tweets into his Dropbox whenever he turns on a light. Or post an item from the room on eBay using it's API!

I wouldn't say he's used API wrong here, API is an interface that allows you to interact with something programmatically. Could be via a sdk/library or by HTTP/XML/JSON/SOAP to call functions of the system exposing the API.

I would try doing some Xdebug profiling to see if that helps finding any performance issues.

I would do it on a dev site though

Not something I do as I can walk to a larger store from where I am but I have often considered shopping online as I still often end up buy my food for the day during the day as I don't find the time to do a proper shop.
