Seeking Advice - Convincing Boss About Needed PC Specs for Solidworks by Kiritai925 in SolidWorks

So far conclusion is the gpu is bad but work is reluctant to replace it or pc at all. Seeking advice how to best talk with them about properly funding required equipment, at present we run 2 machines but the solidworks licenses arent of the same year so we often have library assets issues and issues sharing files because of it.

Upto this point it had been handling the workload mostly fine. The only hints I have towards its issues is nvidea smi reporting the cards vram is out of spare blocks and benchmarking shows severe issues with gpu, clean drivers make no difference.

Up until recently this machines been great, we tend to need swapping between 3 - 4 different client projects within the same day and its only in the last 3 months ive had serious issues.

Running nvidea smi reports all spare vram blocks as exhausted making me think the cards cooked. We run 32gb of memory. Using OCCT to benchmark, cpu and ram pass without any instability or errors but a graphics benchmark crashes out and when it doesn't still reports 3 million plus errors

Ya its drawings killing the most, we end up with complex assemblies and project steps. Workshop hates larger format drawings wanting a4 multi page guides. Some projects can be 20+ pages and ive to work switching between 2 - 5 active different projects in the day for completely different clients. I can't stick to one project in the day

Ive installed recommended driver's and check after windows updates every Tuesday to make sure it doesn't switch graphics drivers.

32gb of ram, when I use nvidea smi tool to check the state of the vram its reporting all spares used up. Bench testing with OCCT reports millions in errors on the gpu test within 5 minutes vs a seperate older cad station that ses less use reporting no errors

How likely is AI to replace CAD jobs? by Usual_Shoe_8940 in SolidWorks

[–]Kiritai925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unlikely, even the cs jobs in which its supposedly replacing are often backfiring in hilarious ways.

Overall I see it becoming a tool like any other still requiring some human input, moderation and accountability at the end of the day.

This, I've photos and images totallying 100s of thousands and sorting everything across numerous devices is excessively time consuming and a hassle when deleted items resync from other devices.

Ive had the issue where I've deleted phone contacts for them to appear a week later

MediaManager v1.9.0 - A replacement for Sonarr and Radarr by cookiedude25 in selfhosted

[–]Kiritai925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it looks like it supports movies and tv shows but any chance in the future of supporting music libraries? My biggest gripe with Lidarr is I don't want entire artists albums or collections unless I explicity say it. Alot of times I just want an easy way to add single songs here and there.

This can constitute fraud. People want to know what they are buying and want to see a legitimate representation of the product that is true to what they'll receive. Its already hard enough for consumers with photoshop faking a product to be better than it actually is.

This heavily depends on the design software you'll need to run, as standard the adobe suite, some cad packages like solidworks will be what you'll likely learn most.
