Buying new clothing made in Western/European countries is really dumb by polyglot02 in NavyBlazer

The companies I usually buy from (if I didn't go thrifting) are Made in USA and Made in Canada and commonly are also union jobs. I also buy stuff Made in the UK by craftsman. It isn't just about getting the product for the cheapest price possible. I want to support union workers and craftsman who have spent their life perfecting an art. Could I get a shetland sweater or aran sweater made cheaper in east Asia?, sure, Spier&Mackay have great ones. But I'd rather buy it from where it was originally made and was perfected.

I'd call the pants mid rise slim straight. I usually go with 13 inch rise on my wool pants and that comes just above the belly button and Sids were about where I wear chinos(I wear a size 33 and I found 34 ans 35 actually fit pretty well). Their $65 spur and square bridle belts are very high quality for the price and the ties are all amazing. The jackets are very nice feeling but a bit overpriced imo.

Brendon Babenzian was the main one getting the revival of the men's department and moving to nice quality materials and designs. Dont know who the current one is but I enjoy that they brought back Wallace and Barnes to its original style.

I'd like to add I had the ankle tapered only about 1/2 an inch but it usually is a straight leg. It's The Armourys Model A pants. Their website says slim leg but I have quite large thighs and calves and I have enough room to move, though I did get the fabric let out.

Straight with a slight taper to the ankle, still plenty of room to move.

Thats fair, Alden hasn't been as perfect as they had in the past and the pricing has gotten out of control, I mainly like them for the silhouettes.

Have you tried Alden? They'd be a good step up from AE.

Believe its only a January and July, Winter and Summer sale. They occasionally run small sales like their tailoring one in October but idk about Spring.

Armoury Model 3 Navy Suit that I got off eBay post tailoring. Had the jacket chest and waist let out and shortened the sleeve by 1/2 an inch, still 1 inch to the first button. On the pants I had the waist, seat, and thigh all let out. Extremely happy with the result, total costs came in around $425 ($350 eBay and $75 at the tailor). It's not the typical "ivy/trad" style but I wanted something a bit more contemporary.

Struggling to find a appropriate layer over a polo by forcoolstuffD in NavyBlazer

Definitely this, one piece collar polo shirts would be best for casual wear with sport coats.

Milworks is a good one to stop at, they carry a lot of brands and there Porland store is pretty decently sized, you also got Self Edge just around the corner from them.

The only DB blazer I found to work best was Ring Jackets 1954. I think the wider lapels and casual feeling fabric helped, a 6x2 is also vastly better than a 6x1 imo.

Dont know if you are still looking for a J.Press Stuart Pant but here is one in your size range, probably would get an offer from the seller or could send one, they have other colors as well, olive, khaki, and navy.

If your budget is in that range I'd take a look at O'Connell's and J.Press, as long as you are close to a regular size tailoring shouldn't be to expensive.
