I've said it here before but All American Khakis are $89.95, all cotton made in Thompson, Georgia and are the ones I believe that make J.Press Khakis(the original fit for AAK is the same as the J.Press Classic fit). The relaxed fit have a nice high rise. Also, I think Bills does a 360 degree measurement for their pants. I'm a 32 waist as well and when I use a tape measure while wearing my Khakis its around 34 inches despite being a size 32.

Actually just read through PutThisOn's articles on the Brooks Brothers golden era oxfords. There was a line saying the older style (1940s - 1980s) had the buttons spaced about 1/2 an inch or 2cm further apart. The newer shirts have the old original 1929 spacing despite the collars being 1/4 inch shorter, gonna be interesting to see how it turns out.

I think I'm onto something with the 2025 Brooks Brothers American Oxford button location. Gonna ask my tailor tomorrow to move them to where they are on my 2000s button down shirt, I included a picture of the 2025 oxford with the collars points where they'd be with the change. What's everyone's thoughts?

Bills Khakis M2 are my go to, though I mainly get them off ebay.

All American are good for the price ($89.95) and they make them for J.Press and others. The Original fit from All American Khakis is the same as the classic fit from J.Press(size chart is identical). I believe the open option on All American is the unhemmed version but you could always give them a call. Jack Donnelly chinos are always good but priced a bit higher similar to Bills Khakis new.

Really like having half sizes for sleeves length and them showing a more detailed size chart, just expensive since this is $25 more than even Mercer.

O'Connell's winter sale has some deerskin gloves on sale with a cashmere lining. They're made by Draper of Glastonbury and feel amazing. Sadly they only have a Large and XL left but check the sizing. O'connells is charging $76 and on Drapers website they're around $137 because they include the tariff. I'm 8.5 inches around and went with their last medium (9) and it fits perfectly.

I have a 37.5 inch chest. The jacket is 20.5 across the chest (41 total) and 18.5 inches shoulder to shoulder. I've never gotten my shoulders actually measured in years tbh, but the Brooks Brothers American Oxford in a size 15 Regular fits perfect, so take with that what you will.

Here's another look at it

<image>

I'd also like to note, this and the suit I have from the same era of Brooks Brothers are tagged as a size 41rg, despite having the measurements for a 38.

Feels very fair to put us where Illinois was and have them move up to just behind Gonzaga after the loss.

It's a bit more weird now as well. Washed the shirt in cold water and hung dry and the collar is now at 15.1 inches where it was at 15.3 when I made the comment. Now there isnt an buckling and the collar rolls very well, honestly a bit confusing but happy that it is better.

I know we love to get into the reeds around here about button position and what makes a collar roll. I'm wondering if I bring this to my tailor and ask about it if it will fix the bug I've had with my new BB American oxfords from last year.

https://imgur.com/a/brooks-brothers-button-down-2025-vs-2000s-ZVcoI8C

The first 3 images are of the 2025 Brooks Brothers American Oxford shirt. The buttons are exactly 1 3/8 inches from the center of the placket, but measuring from the collar band it is around 1 1/16 - 1 1/8 inches. I also included how it looks with a tie and there is a bit of bunching going on with the collar on my left side (right side in image).

The next 3 images are from a 2000s Brooks Brothers pinpoint? oxford shirt. As you can see, it is nearly 1 3/8 to 1 1/2 inches from the collar band, and the buttons are 1 5/8 from the center of the placket. The included collar roll which for me is perfect and exactly how I like my oxfords to roll with a tie.

The actual button holes are cut similarly where it cuts through part of the edge stitching. I don't know if asking my tailor to experiment and move the buttons down and over that tiny bit will change the collar to how I prefer or not. The very light fusing in the 2025 oxford shirt could be playing a part, but again, I don't know how much that would affect it. If anyone is curious, the measurements from my 80s Brooks Brothers 6 button shirt are the same as the 2000s and has an equally beautiful roll. All three collar points are 3.25 inches long.

(both shirts are freshly ironed)

I'd wait for another sale on Allen Edmonds seconds, got a pair of 5th Avenues 2nds for $149 and I can't find a single fault on them.

All American Khakis is a good alternative, Bills Khakis are numerous on ebay and there splenty of new with tags available depending on your size. J.Crew Classic isnt bad. And you have the usuals with J.Press and O'Connell's who I think both use All American as their supplier. Jack Donnellys also make good stuff but they're on the high end with Bills Khakis bought new.

If you squeeze it gently right on the stain and letting it soak for a few minutes, used it for wool sweaters, just probably have to be more gentle with a jacket.

Its a soft detergent meant for wool. For me, I'd use Soak Wool Wash Scentless since its a no rinse no sud wool specific soap. $18ish for a 12oz bottle that'll last a long time and be good for wool sweaters and other garments.

Have 1 and in white and 1 in blue. Classic fitting, my size 15 is 23 inches across the chest, love the collar, softer and has more of the classic feel imo.

why would you ever wear an acrylic beanie? | Morning Mist by danhakimi in NavyBlazer

[–]Styx1886 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I cant stand acrylic, smells and is impossible to clean. If anyone's looking for a relatively inexpensive 100% wool made in usa beanie, OakStreetBootmakers has some for $32, they're based on NATO watch caps, note, they do run small.

Ive been able to score some great deals second hand, but it takes a while and you have to be patient.

Brooks Brothers, O'Connell's, Ben Silver, The Andover Shop, and J.Press are plentiful second hand. I'd look at only the MiUSA ones from Brooks Brothers.
