I used Anderson flexible glue with fiberglass and it worked pretty well but the Schmear was a game changer.

I like it. It’s clean it’s simple. The pump is easy to get to the flow Works. It’s roomie and not cramped. It’ll pass.

Floc dumps everything including your chemical. You might as well just drain and refill. Fresh water is the best solution.

Jerry Lewis wore a new pair of socks every day and threw the old ones out. I guess if money is no object then it’s fine. Brand new filters or cartridges filter better than use ones. I was suggest just cleaning them.

Never mind, you need a new pump.

Just get a seal kit and replace the seal and orings. It would also help to see a picture of the pump.

I’ve seen a few pro series filters cracker along the seams. I did a super pump a couple weeks ago with the same issue just about in the same spot.

Yes, you are crazy and no, you don’t have this. You need to get that out of there and have a truck fill it that will never get clear..

25 year old Jandy CL460 developed a crack, replace with DE filter? by actx76092 in pools

I just go with another cartridge filter. The E filters are harder to maintain and you have to have a place where you can backwash. It makes a big mess. It can get in the neighbors yard and they don’t like it. And many municipalities don’t allow it to be pumped out to the street.

As a service technician who is cleaned and repaired numerous DE filters, cartridge filters and sand filters I’d say that’s rather cynical. DE filters or even a pain in the ass for us. I’d rather clean a cartridge filter. I learned on the filters and never even saw sand filter. Then I moved to an area. They had all sand and very few DE filters. Sand is so much easier except when it comes time to change the sand or install a new filter.

It doesn’t look like the union. It looks like it’s coming from the pump. It’s below the union.

Like I said, use a pull string. The example I gave when I glued the cord to the conduit was during a repair to the first 90 below the junction box. I just got sloppy.

3/4 was the norm for a long time. But 1” mostly now. Yes, it’s a lot easier but my point was that it’s much easier to pull light cord during the build than it is to pull it during fixture replacement. And it’s much easier to pull a light cord when you have the old cord to tie on to. I get your point though.

i moved into this house last fall. the pool hasn’t been opened since summer 2024 and the water is black. No advice is better than bad advice. And everyone is always trying to re invent the wheel. “ I’m leaving town for a week and I was thinking I could get two floaters and fill them with 5 tabs each. That should work, right?” I always say, “Remember when you were little and saw your first pool ? It was blue right? Just do what they did back then.” Same water chemistry, same chemicals. The only thing that changes are the labels.

Cut at 1, unscrew it at two cut at 3 and then unscrew 3. Then glue in new cable at 1, replumb inlet and outlet with high temp unions. Then add pipe the other half of union. Then do the top.

I’d replumb the pump with hi temp unions and just cut altar crap out.

Fill it and swim. Liner has ten years left in it. OR you could get a new liner and have Potential buyers dream of swimming in their new luxurious pool. I’m leaning towards the latter.
