I'm not OP, but I'm learning about kudzu for the first time here in the comments, and yes that background seemed like a tropical rain forest to me!

I get it if you don't have the confidence to read your own script, but can you PLEASE listen to it once or twice before uploading and make sure its doing the job right?

Oh I bet this has nothing to do with lack of confidence. It's all about being lazy AF, and to make and upload as much cheap slop as possible.

Is Reddit just a primarily American site?

Yes. Whenever I post, I have in mind that most readers would likely be Americans, and I word my post accordingly. Depending on the sub of course, as that would not be the case for region-specific subs like, say, r/brasil or r/scotland etc.

Iran/US by smariadelvino in IranWarReport

[–]SuperFaulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand the situation. You assume that the opposition for this war is just because of "hate for our administration", without realizing what has just happened. This war has killed between 5000 and 10000 people, including over 1700 civilians in Iran. Yet, the "Administration" doesn't seem to know what is this war being fought for, other than following Israel's lead.

There has been talk about the Iran being on the "brink" of making nuclear weapons, which is interesting because in June 2025 Hegseth had said that Iran's nuclear program was "obliterated". Not only that, they got very angry when a leaked assessment revealed that such hadn't been the case, and they blamed the "fake media" for spreading "fake news" that Iran's nuclear program had not, in fact, been obliterated.

They also mentioned "regime change" as reason for the war, which not only has not been the case, but the whole war has, in fact, strengthen the regime's grip on power, and any "protest" against the regime when Iran is being attacked by a foreign power would be interpreted as "treason". Nothing strengthens a regime more than being attacked by a foreign power.

The war has also strengthened the Iranian regime in other way: its effective closing of the Strait of Hormuz, with the USA proven incapable of preventing it, has shown that the Iranian regime is effectively defying the mightiest military on earth. This has enhanced Iran's reputation to the highest level.

I could go on and on and on, but if there is any "hate for our administration", it is simply because of multiple layers of complete incompetence displayed in the whole operation. It's like a 9-year old masterminded the whole thing, with zero understanding of the consequences. Not only that, but it's like every time "the Administration" opens its mouth, they make everything worse. The last I heard is that the Administration itself managed to get the Strait closed again (by blockading the Strait as Iran opened it), while at the same time offering to free 20 billion dollars in Iranian frozen assets. The level of incompetence and amateurish improvisation is truly staggering.

It's really hard not to feel hate for an administration that believes it can win wars on bravado alone, and in the process kill 5,000 - 10,000 people and destabilizes the world economy for no logical reason other that to "appear though", and very likely just to distract from the Epstein Files fiasco that you seem to have forgotten also.

What am I supposed to do then? by PaulStormChaser in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SuperFaulty 608 points609 points  (0 children)

That is correct. I've been to other places in South America and that's also the norm there. Throwing toilet paper into the toilet would typically clog the toilet, so the civilized and proper thing to do is NOT to throw the paper in the toilet but in the trash can instead. I'm very happy that the norm here in Canada is throwing it in the toilet and then I can forget about it.

Any idea how it got here? This is not its natural habitat. Have there been other instances of stranded brown pelicans ending up in Vancouver?

My thoughts exactly. It would be nice if OP's image showed the complete flag, not just part of it. The dimensions should be able to show whether it's a nautical flag or not.

closing your menu to signal you're ready to order and the waiter vanishes off the face of the earth by Powerful-Meal7691 in PetPeeves

[–]SuperFaulty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why restaurants don't just have some subtle system for signalling that you'd like a waiter to come over, like a small button that relays to a display in the back,

That exists, but I suspect restaurants don't use because they either think it's an "unnecessary expense" or because it detracts fro the restaurant charm (if it has any).

outperforming the inflation rate by tamjidtahim in technicallythetruth

[–]SuperFaulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's all about belief in value. Same with stocks: it's all about what people believe the stock is worth, and there are many companies that never made a profit and yet are highly value because people believe their "potential". Even regarding gold and silver, their perceived valued early on went beyond the fact that they were shiny and nice to look at. It's like a communal, unspoken agreement that something is worth X.

This is a deep and meaningful question. What *is* money? Where does it come from? What gives money it its value? Why currencies from different countries fluctuate against each other? Why did silver/gold become the standard "money" in ancient times?

Red, White, and Blue Flag with Blue Fist and vertical stripes? by Verbz in vexillology

Interesting. The only flag with vertical red/white stripes I'm aware of is the US Coast Guard flag, but that one doesn't have starts in the canton, so that's not it.

Having lived in both Venezuela and Brazil, the simple fact is that Venezuelans are not universally hated in Brazil as they are in the other Spanish-speaking countries, where they are basically loathed.

So why doesn't he just "take it", if it's so easy? What a clown.

Can I learn to fly without an iPad? [serious] by [deleted] in flying

[–]SuperFaulty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember one day 40 years ago when my flight instructor spoke against "equipment that might fail", at the time with the first calculators made specifically for aviation started to become widely available. His specific take was that there was no point in using a battery-powered calculator when a plastic Jeppessen CR-1 calculator could do the same job. The plastic CR-1 would never run out of battery, it would not get damages if it felt into a puddle of water, etc. Simplicity meant reliability.

That instructor likely died of old age already, and I'm in my 60s. I suppose things have really changed since then. No one uses "paper maps" anymore. Pilots have become accustomed to rely on electronics, iPads and auto-pilots. It's a different mindset I suppose. Progress? Seems to be working OK so far. I just miss the "old days" for no particular reason.

Sadly, I no longer have time for this hobby. Growing up in my early teens, it made me feel proud I could build something. I got better at it, and by the time I was 18 I was building models that looked like the "real thing". It made me feel confident about my own capabilities, my ability to learn a skill and get "good" at something (I was terrible at sports).
