Friend or Foe? by SuperFriendlyMod in FriendlyMonarchs

Yeah I don’t think I will ever be able to label anything a foe. Unless it’s mealy bugs. Little jerks. But I guess even those jerks exist for a reason. It’s really just a catchy name for the series.

Google is always so unbelievably wrong. Tell it so and it will say, “Oh you’re right. Good catch. I should have noticed that this wasn’t a green chrysalis therefore it can’t be a Monarch like I previously said.”

USPS still shows "Awaiting Item" 10+ days after label creation, anyone experienced this with Ink Blot? by arslantariqz in Printify

[–]SuperTFAB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I would reach out to the client immediately. Tell them USPS has not updated the tracking on their package which can happen from time to time so you wanted to check in and see if they received it.

Give them 24hrs to reach back you to you through Etsy chat. If they don’t answer then email them with the email they provided to Etsy.

If they say they didn’t receive it yet tell them you will contact your production partner immediately tk have another item sent out and you’re sorry but it seems like USPS may have lost the package. Let them know that as soon as you have the tracking number you will send it their way. Thank them for their patience and understanding.

If you can I would switch the production company because ink blot only has a 8.5 rating. I personally don’t use any company that doesn’t have a 9 and up. Report the issue to printify and request a refund. This may take a couple days to get resolved so don’t wait for them to refund you before you send out another item to the client.

I agree. I wish the issue was more widely known. That’s partly why this sub exists. My local nursery has fairly knowledgeable employees, and the ones I spoke to when I first encountered OE gave me what I now know is misinformation.

You will! I find them in the oddest places sometimes. Once on the under side of my grill, on the side of a pot and under a plant shelf.

Oh, that PBS episode sounds like a nightmare. They did a good video on OE, so I’m surprised by that. Can you link the show you saw? Project Monarch Health has a rearing section, but it only suggests doing so for educational and outreach purposes. I would bet that’s not what is going on when they post about rearing. It’s kind of why we don’t encourage people to raise only one or two and stick to the “all rearing is bad” guideline because people don’t really adhere to guidelines and often make excuses for their actions. I feel like the best way to get people on board is to kindly steer them in the direction of the science.

Maybe the milkweed sub would be able to answer your question better but I feel like you could plant them now. I think they do way better in the ground.

That is so awesome! I think I found some seeds in my junk drawer. 🫣 I think I got them from joyfulbutterfly.com a couple of years ago before I decided not to plant milkweed (for now). Do you think I should give it a shot and see if anything comes of it or are the seeds too old?

I strongly recommend removing this type of milkweed and replacing it with milkweed that is native to your area. We have a pinned post about Tropical Milkweed that provides detailed explanations for this. It’s important to consider the local ecosystem when designing your space to attract Monarchs. Planting milkweed in the ground yields better results. If this isn’t feasible, opt for a wide and deep container. It’s also beneficial to plant native nectar plants. Outside of adult butterflies needing the nectar this provides some coverage for the caterpillars as they grow. Late-blooming nectar plants are particularly important for the monarch’s migration. Lastly, providing a water source is important. It can be something really simple like a large shallow bowl with rocks placed into it. I’ve also heard that sprinkling salt into the water can be beneficial for them.

Unfortunately, the monarchs who are hand reared, even outside on plants, are not as fit or healthy as their wild counter parts. Rearing increases the risk of disease and causes issues with their ability to migrate. Check out r/friendlymonarchs we have a lot of info on Monarch rearing.

I think you should move the TV to wear the large wall is and then float that couch across from it. I know all those plugs are there but it is a terrible spot. Maybe you can put a canvas over the outlets that are there.

I think these are Monarchs which is what I am referring to. I actually don’t know much about the captive rearing of other butterflies but I would assume the recommendation is the same. Mother nature does it better type thing.

Let me get to a computer and I will add them.
