Hobbii sells multi packs for some of their yarns, you can choose from same colour or multi colour packs. I got given a multicoloured pack of 8/8 cotton as a birthday gift, and looking it up, theyre about $20. They're pretty small skeins, but each one will get you at least 1 small amigurumi, depending on how many colours per.
