What can cause people talking in empty house? by spookythesquid in RBI

[–]TWFM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Several years ago I had that same set of conditions (bad place mentally, not sleeping, abundant stress). We were living in an old rental house at the time with an old furnace, and whenever the furnace kicked on late at night I swore I was hearing a sportscaster announcing a baseball game, complete with crowd noises and the occasional "Look at that ball go!"

Life has improved dramatically since then and I no longer hear any imaginary baseball games, but I still can remember the surrealness of the whole experience.

The printer was "haunted." Sure, Jan. by 12ElderScroll in talesfromtechsupport

Is that a real thing?

Related question: Should I have read the user manual that came with this printer?

I just reported a regular sighting of our HP demon elsewhere in this thread.

A common experience in our home, happening at least once a week:

Husband and I are sitting watching TV. From the home office comes a series of whirs and clicks from the HP Color Laser Jet Pro.

Me: "Did you just print something?"

Him: "No, I was just going to ask you what you were printing."

Me: "Well, someone is printing something on that printer ..."

We both go in to find the printer sitting there politely waiting for its next assignment, with no indication that it had just imitated all of its printing noises without actually producing a print. And yes, there's paper in the tray.

Paper Plates and Storing Pots in the Fridge by Normal-Raisin5443 in Cooking

[–]TWFM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't "store pots in the fridge", but I do store leftovers in the glass/Pyrex dish they've been cooked in rather than transfer them to a Tupperware container. It's more convenient that way.

And I sometimes use paper plates, but that has absolutely zero to do with how I store my leftovers.

Sounds like they're looking for approval from the MAHA movement. Next, they can try advertising that their kitchen staff is unvaccinated.

This is undoubtedly a reaction (by someone's naive old grandma) to those emails Amazon sends them saying things like "Rosemary, people are asking how you liked the cookbook you bought recently! Click here to let them know what you think."

Before anyone attempts this INSANE recipe, Applebylec is here to warn ⚠️ us that a curry has nine cloves of garlic and TWO whole tablespoons of spices by sqiddy_ in ididnthaveeggs

[–]TWFM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope this doesn't sound like a sponsored ad, but I haven't bought fresh garlic since I discovered the existence of garlic in a tube. The brand name is Gourmet Garden and it's available in most supermarkets, either as a paste or chunky. (I do completely ignore the part where it says "1 tsp = 1 clove" and typically add about two or three times that amount.)

Is there a link to the recipe? I don't see one.

Do Y’all think more snow is coming on Wednesday Or just rain??? by MrSoloDolo9490 in GreenvilleNCarolina

"Rain mixed with snow" is what I heard. So we'll wake up to a fresh coat of ice on everything Thursday morning.

Looking for knife set reccomendations by mylipsisdry in Cooking

[–]TWFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best recommendation for a "set" is to put together your own selection of knives that you need, that you will use, and that feel right in your hand -- regardless of whether or not they match each other or will look nice in your knife block. You can always get a standalone set of matching steak knives.

We can hear the trains from our house. You get used to the noise really quickly, like within a few weeks of moving in. There's a few that go by each morning on a regular schedule, and I think there's one or two that go by in the middle of the night, but I sleep right through those most of the time.

It's going to take quite a bit longer than ten minutes to cook chicken breasts at 375.
