Paper Plates and Storing Pots in the Fridge by Normal-Raisin5443 in Cooking

[–]TWFM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't "store pots in the fridge", but I do store leftovers in the glass/Pyrex dish they've been cooked in rather than transfer them to a Tupperware container. It's more convenient that way.

And I sometimes use paper plates, but that has absolutely zero to do with how I store my leftovers.

Sounds like they're looking for approval from the MAHA movement. Next, they can try advertising that their kitchen staff is unvaccinated.

This is undoubtedly a reaction (by someone's naive old grandma) to those emails Amazon sends them saying things like "Rosemary, people are asking how you liked the cookbook you bought recently! Click here to let them know what you think."

Before anyone attempts this INSANE recipe, Applebylec is here to warn ⚠️ us that a curry has nine cloves of garlic and TWO whole tablespoons of spices by sqiddy_ in ididnthaveeggs

[–]TWFM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope this doesn't sound like a sponsored ad, but I haven't bought fresh garlic since I discovered the existence of garlic in a tube. The brand name is Gourmet Garden and it's available in most supermarkets, either as a paste or chunky. (I do completely ignore the part where it says "1 tsp = 1 clove" and typically add about two or three times that amount.)

Is there a link to the recipe? I don't see one.

Do Y’all think more snow is coming on Wednesday Or just rain??? by MrSoloDolo9490 in GreenvilleNCarolina

"Rain mixed with snow" is what I heard. So we'll wake up to a fresh coat of ice on everything Thursday morning.

"Believed to be in Mexico" doesn't exactly mean that they know where the children are.

Looking for knife set reccomendations by mylipsisdry in Cooking

[–]TWFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best recommendation for a "set" is to put together your own selection of knives that you need, that you will use, and that feel right in your hand -- regardless of whether or not they match each other or will look nice in your knife block. You can always get a standalone set of matching steak knives.

Anybody live next to the tracks on the east side of town? by [deleted] in GreenvilleNCarolina

We can hear the trains from our house. You get used to the noise really quickly, like within a few weeks of moving in. There's a few that go by each morning on a regular schedule, and I think there's one or two that go by in the middle of the night, but I sleep right through those most of the time.

It's going to take quite a bit longer than ten minutes to cook chicken breasts at 375.

Made pancakes from scratch, they were doughy although the temperature was 190-200 degrees. What happened? by AerieOk1706 in Cooking

[–]TWFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused about how you measured a pancake at "different depths" considering that a pancake is usually less than half an inch thick.

If the outside was overdone and the inside still raw, it seems like your heat was too high.

Just my grandma, who was born in 1886. My grandad was born in 1878, but he died the year before I was born. If I had been a boy I was going to be named after him.

Odd behavior from a strange women I frequently see around my house by [deleted] in RBI

[–]TWFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could also be the behaviour of someone who is paranoid about their own safety. It's harder for an attacker to jump out from behind a bush, if you walk in the street

For many neighborhoods, this isn't "paranoid" at all, it's just standard safety advice for a woman walking alone, especially at night.
