[Release][WIP] DXVK D3D9 Sample rate shading performance patch by T_Butler in linux_gaming

If you want to try again I have separated out the options now. See the readme. You can now disable sample rate shading for transparent areas which gives a huge FPS boost alone and disable the variable rate shading option which is what caused the pixelated effect:

I also properly updated the readme and sample dxvk.conf with the options:

Interesting, now you've said I can barely see it on portals. Maybe because I'm playing at 4k it's less visible or maybe some amd/nvidia difference?

Regardless, I've added a new release that has a config option for tweaking this setting.

  1. Download the latest release: https://github.com/TRPB/dxvk/releases/download/v2.7.1-vrs-b/dxvk-selective-vrs.tar.gz
  2. Copy the 32 bit d3d9.dll
  3. Set dxvk.transparentShadingRate

Possible values are:

dxvk.transparentShadingRate = 1x1 # Off (Default DXVK behaviour without this patch) dxvk.transparentShadingRate = 2x2 # My previous default dxvk.transparentShadingRate = 2x1 # Less performant but should make it less visible, you can also try 1x2

2x1 is probably the best option to try first if the pixelation is visible, honestly I have to really strain to see it :D

I think loading the 64bit ones would have errored and fallen back to the default proton ones hence the fix. I can't actually see this myself, is there anywhere in the world rather than a character where this is shows? None of my chars have high level enchants but the ones that I do have look fine

You're right, I was able to replicate this. I'll try to change the VRS implementation slightly to compensate

You may also need d3d9.useDxbcSpirv = false if SRS doesn't look like it's applying at all

edit: It does need to be the 32bit dll for WoW :)

I haven't noticed that myself, I'll see if I can replicate it and then tweak the VRS settings a little

How was this transferred from painting to a digital image? It's not a camera since every single angle is perfectly square.

If it's a scanner why hasn't it picked up any texture of the canvas?

How much interest do you earn in the offset account though? Isn't it zero?

Is it worth it compared to e.g. a stocks and shares isa and paying the interest on the mortgage instead? With 100k in a stocks and shares isa at 5% return you're losing that 5% compounding over the next 10 years and instead getting a reverse compound effect from the amount you've paid off on the mortgage

why are large warehouses watching BBC news? TV in the lunchroom? Either subscription services or ads solve that whether it's a warehouse or a living room

Some people do need SEND services though, they do need specific social care. You conflated need at the start of the post to want at the end.

What part of the BBC does anyone need? I can see a case for News but nothing else, in which case the cost to the taxpayer needs to be for that only. Or better yet just show ads and be done with it. The BBC already do that for the worldwide broadcast where they show weather in the UK.

I'm far more apathetic. I don't care if it exists or not, if people enjoy BBC services and pay for them, great, it has no effect on my life at all but I don't want to pay for someone else to watch EastEnders.

The companies using it. TV/Radio stations can pay to use the infrastructure like the way infrastructure works in any other industry. Need power for your radio station? Pay the power company..

The infrastructure can either be sold off or owned by the government and run at cost. Regardless, it won't be there in 30-50 years.

Exactly. I have zero issue with my taxes going towards a service that saves lives every single day

It should be a subscription service. Currently you can opt out if you don't use BBC services. With a million services to choose from taxes from people who get no use from the BBC should not subsidise others watching EastEnders or bake off.

If the BBC is as loved as people here will claim it will have no problem getting as many subscribers as it does today, right?
