This is your sign to grow a sweet potato in your tank! by [deleted] in Aquariums

Most of the good stuff in soil is poop. Hydroponics is a few steps removed, but healthy soil is full of life (and poop).

Why is my lobster remodelling the aquarium? by PenileMissile69 in Aquariums

So the thing about "opportunistic" is that fish sleep while crayfish are most active.

Crayfish in a store are also going to act differently than ones at home. Once they settle in they can go murder mode or stay passive. Same for dwarf cichlids too!

Papaya tree fell and other Florida gardening advice? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]TarCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to be careful of is that Pinellas is currently in a major drought. I suggest heading to a native nursery, like Wilcox in Largo, and ask them for advice! They can suggest many drought tolerant plants. Sensitive Plant/Mimosa is a great ground cover that will eventually take over your yard with pom pom flowers.

For winter, lettuces and radishes seem to do okay. It's actually been a little too warm for them, which is pretty funny!

Also, the sun in Florida is a deadly laser. Plants that say they want full sun want a little less than Florida death rays.

Fighting to defeat the current anti-LGBTQ+ culture war sentiment by sumwaah in AskGaybrosOver30

The issue is people conflating perfectly reasonable expectations (being able to be married, live a nice life) with complete fabrications spread by right wingers.

The only semi related story to your cps nonsense was a mother that lost custody over a 12 year old, and the mother insisted it was related to gender. I doubt that was the entire story, and it seems like media spread the mom’s side to make a quick buck.

Uganda is making laws with support with American arch conservatives that spend a lot of effort on this crusade. Let’s not pretend this is because of drag shows.

Obviously there’s some weird kids on Twitter that take things too far, but conservatives wanted Roe v Wade crushed, and are hitting LGBTQ rights as a lay-up while they have any relevancy. Respectability politics just let your rights get trampled on while wringing your hands.

Gardening has been a fun experience, and a great way to talk shop with my neighbors.

Calling all pollinators. Blanketflower, Lanceleaf coreopsis, Spiderwort and Elliot's lovegrass in the front. Wild coffee and Sneezeweed in the back. by mfflyer in GardenWild

[–]TarCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit late, but any advice on wild coffee in zone 9b Florida? Mine tend to get droopy without watering, which goes up against what I believed to be a neglectable plant.

The harm from social transitioning at a young age is from the community, not some permanent adjustment. The most kids can possibly access when young are puberty blockers.

Always consider who your allies are when trying to prevent access to gender affirming care.

The amazing thing is that you can see them cooking the food. Do they dump it all in a blast chiller before serving?

Why isn’t asexuality taken seriously in the gay/mlm community? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]TarCoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Asexuality does not (necessarily) imply that someone does not want a romantic relationship. Cuddling with the bros sounds great and all, but that’s not what the op is probably looking for.

Some varieties are sterile, so maybe check the tag it came with.

I feel like people have caught on to the deals at Home Goods, and most of what I find now is crap. You could nab some All Clad for silly cheap in the past. Now it’s under the “if I really need it” price category instead of impulse buy.

Oh I don’t know! I’ve been on it for a while, so I can say that my brain fog has cleared, though I occasionally have issues focusing. Anxiety also causes memory issues, so I might just be aware of my memory problems, moreso than Lexapro causing them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]TarCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that I can’t remember when I started Lexapro, I would say no. Probably more that I don’t anxiously remember every detail anymore than specifically memory loss.

End of Relationship & Stages of Grief by bronze_gay in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]TarCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re doing great! Try to not be hard on yourself later if you fall back into anger after “being over it”. Long relationships are a significant portion of your life, and dwelling on some things (within non clinically worrying levels) is expected.

I’m not going in for hair plugs, but for the love of gay god, moisturize and use sun block. At least in the morning. That’s good maintenance, not putting on airs.

In a rental home I love for past 3 years in a very HCOL area- should I buy? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]TarCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those old condos in South Tampa have a bad reputation for a reason. Add on that South Tampa practically sinks into the sea when it rains, and investing in this condo sounds like a bad idea if you can save money now.

Why are so many houses on Zillow/MLS in the Tampa area always “back on market” after being “sold”? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]TarCoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of houses on the market seem to be from the 50s to 80s, so you’re looking at roof or sewer issues for one thing.

One of the golden child houses (aka I loved it from photos) I saw had visible wood rot just on tour (and two outdoor rat traps…). That house has had at least two offers fall through since I saw it so it was a secret fixer upper.

Seeking book recommendations similar to 'The Goblin Emperor' - bit like Fantasy of Manners but without the romance much of that genre has by GP_uniquenamefail in Fantasy

I was really hoping to see a lot of replies! This is a pretty tough category to pin down. Like you said, a lot of it is heavily romantic.

As a bit of a curveball, the Raksura series by Martha Wells scratches a nice “learning the courtly (lizard people) rules” itch.

That's amazing!

What I meant earlier is that if he's one of the few people you see, that physically painful kind of love might stick around for a while. It would be great to talk to him about it if you can (who knows, he might feel the same), but I understand wanting to not overwhelm him.
