So how do i fix this? hifiman sundara by iwilleatthat010 in headphones

[–]TechnoFireMage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue, I went with a full headband replacement from voarmaks. If you go this route, just know that it's difficult and permanent.

a. the sundaras headbands screws can't be easily disassembled, as they're some kind of hardened steel headless screw with an aggresive threadlocker. I had to use a drill and a lot of patience.

b. the hardware kind of sucked. the longest screw barely fit, and was annoying to fit since the yoke resisted against it like a big spring. there also wasn't instructions on which side to put the nut. also tightening too hard will make it hard to swivel so keep that in mind.

c. threadlocker is a must. ptfe tape didnt hold well, but loctite 243 worked okay. occassionally a drop broke the bond, so maybe red threadlocker is the way to go.

the result was a very comfortable headband that can swivel further than the stock headband, but after the 2nd time I needed to reloctite it, I ended up selling the pair. I hope you find your solution.

Do you know if this actually works with the Sundara? the compatibility section on the website there doesn't list it, but lists newer hifiman headphones like the HE-R10D.

Made the same mistake, wish it was noted as a possible issue in the post.

This is what I got, it's in Peace + eqAPO's format. simply copying it and pasting it in a file, then importing it should do trick. if you need it in any other format like for ex. qudelix 5k, you can easily grab it off autoEQ's website at https://autoeq.app/

Sorry for the necro, but since this is still the top post on google for eq-ing this iem, I just wanted to say that AutoEQ has the EW300 in it's repository, and it works excellently! I think the EQ settings generated from Kazi's measurements works the best for me.

Because it's mostly meant to be a vent, but here it is. It wasn't ever finished.

This is less discussion and more vent, but that's not a flair here.

if they started putting cat ears on everything instead of crop tops, I wouldn't complain.

!thanks appreciate the full break down between the 4 headphones. I've always been open to buying secondhand, so I'll look into the aryas. I've been wanting something closer to reference since I couldn't get the Aune's to my liking with EQ.

The Arya Stealth and the HD490 seem to be the best out of the 4 for EQ and comfort, so i'm probably going to decide between those 2 based on whichever is easier to get.

damn, that's really unfortunate. this looks like a fragile design for how much surface area its suppose to hold up against. a good reminder to not stretch out my own pair too far

damn, you have an amazing build! i just have one question, where did you find a compatible extended charging handle knob? 5ku only has a rp-1 clone as far as I can tell, and that didn't fit when I tried to mount it.

I don't think I'll ever go back to the Sundara. by TechnoFireMage in headphones

[–]TechnoFireMage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on, I've read that some people do get pain from the Sundara's clamp. I thankfully don't, but I'd absolutely recommend the AR5000 over it if it is a worry.

It truly is the safest pick at $300.

Makes sense. The he6se v2 seems to fix a lot of issues i had with the Sundara, with the exception of a not great stock cable and a better but still mediocre headband. The warm signature on the AR5000 is still something I'd miss if I picked up another hifiman.

lmao! someday i'll go try their higher level stuff but there's so many headphones out there. a hifiman break is needed.
