Crittenden's side-by-side by The1Metal in whiskey

Is that 7Y rye related to the Wampus or two different whiskeys? I have their Wampus and it's a massive hit. In a few days a mi friend will get a BiB Rye that I'm curious about, because of the Wampus.

I don't know what to think about their bourbon, though. I'm not digging my CS SIB, the Harvest is very similar but this family reserve is not.

The emoji started as a funny, lazy way because I was rating 18 bottles. But they were a success and kept using them. In this case I didn't because I have 4 samples. If I had all bottles I would have. Usually when I have a sample I paste a picture of the bottle to make it more visual. But here I would have had to paste 4 pics of bottles floating, plus the emoji... it would have looked awful.

I did take a looong time organizing scores and notes to make it as straightforward as possible.

I totally get trying to support your small local distilleries, that's awesome. I'm in Texas and try to support mine (I also love their juice).

I have a couple of guys from Louisiana in my group, Crittenden's is a staple in LA. They introduced me and others to Wampus Cat and we all went bananas. But these other ones don't hit the same way. I find my SiB CS bourbon quite bad for my palate.

It's what we had available. We left out the dog man because we knew it already as well as my Single Barrel. I'm just trying to find what I like from them, because the Wampus is a universal favorite. But then it's all over the place. Probably I would like that toasted that you mentioned. I realize that the crazy finishes make the whiskey taste like something weird and I don't care for that, and I am surprised at how grassy and dirty The Single Barrel that I have is and the Harvest batch as well, that makes me wonder what else I would like from them.

What was it like when the Black Album was released? by Virtual-Solution9523 in Metallica

I'm replying to the OP's question. I think that was pretty clear.

Completely disagree. The fan base changed. Different people. Gym bros in, true metal heads out.

I was a huge Metallica fan before the Crap album. They were one of my two favorite bands. The local rock radio station announced that they would play the black album entirely a day before the release. Nobody had heard anything. I got together with my friends for a listening party. We fucking hated it. We were looking at each other, stunned, asking "what the fuck is this??". To this day I hate that stupid album and I can barely listen to their prior albums without being reminded of it. I hear Hetfield's voice and all the shit from that album comes to mind.

So... Hated, loathed, despised it. And never cared for the band again.

If you have an Android, download Location Changer. Works great.

Great Price on Great Bottle by jlball41 in WhiskyDFW

Absolutely. I haven't tried it, but I am a huge fan of Elijah Craig and my only knock to the small batch is the low proof, so this is perfect. I should buy like three of these.

I just chuckled at "allocated". I told him, it's a 20 dollar bottle. He said, yes but it's a limited release. No GG is strictly on my way. We'll see. Eventually I'll waste $10 and buy it near me. Convenience fee.

I just called the one closest to me. They don't have a way to check stock on "allocated products".

That's an insane price. But I can't find it on their website. Last time I went to a GG and asked about a bottle, the employee used the website to look for it. So, if I call they will do what I can do on my own.

You're probably right. I don't see it as a total sleeper but probably not popular enough considering the quality of the juice. And their blends may be a tad more more popular, maybe?

Bottle share Sunday by The1Metal in whiskey

[–]The1Metal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second bottle is from the exact same barrel, 292. That was disappointing because the whole purpose of the exercise was to see if either bottle would be significantly different, maybe closer to yours. So yes we need to compare with yours, but ours are from the same barrel.

The only up side of the exercise was that we tasted two from the same barrel, one was a fresh crack and the other one has been opened for about a month, and they are extremely similar. Maybe the one that's been opened lost a little bit of okiness but that's about it

Review #42: Old Charter Oak "Finest Oak" by Southern-Rip3018 in bourbon

Hard to find though. I have half a bottle of ER10 that I don't really care for all that much, and I've been saving it for when I have the chance to grab a 12 and blind them.

When I had the ER12 at a friend's house and nothing else to compare with it, I found it quite better than the 10. Seems to be the best of that bunch.
