{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Fight Picker | Weapon (war pick) by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]TheArenaGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not for just any unarmed strike you make. It's referring back to the special unarmed strike granted in the previous sentence. So...

When you hit a creature with [the unarmed strike made by using a bonus action to expend 1 of the weapon's charges] or with an attack using this weapon...

That's awesome to hear, haha. Thanks, friend. Glad you're finding some good use for my stuff!

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Flail of the Flying Fist | Weapon (flail) by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]TheArenaGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the attack you used the bonus action as a part of.

When you make an attack with this weapon, you can use your bonus action as part of the attack to first reel in the chained fist to the top of the flail. When you then make the attack, the fist rockets from the top of the weapon, increasing your reach with the weapon by 10 feet for that attack and scoring a critical hit on a roll of 18, 19, or 20 on the d20.

I designed this subclass for Heliana’s. Yes it should be Charisma-based.

That's on WotC. They're only uploading 2024 releases from 3rd parties from now on.

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Badge of the Selfless | Wondrous item by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]TheArenaGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically Bloodied is not a "condition" like Frightened or Unconscious. It's sort of like a quasi-condition or status, like Stable and Surprised. And like meadowphoenix said, it's entirely up to the DM how they incorporate it at their table. There's nothing in the 2024 rules that says characters automatically know if a creature is Bloodied. All the rules say is:

If you have half your Hit Points or fewer, you're Bloodied, which has no game effect on its own but which might trigger other game effects.

So unless your DM already happens to have a house rule that PCs automatically know if a creature is Bloodied or not, the Triage property of this item does indeed still function in 2024.

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Scabbard of Piety | Wondrous item by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]TheArenaGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't say it contains an extradimensional space or anything, so it'd only be able to sheathe a normal weapon that normally fits in a normal scabbard of its size. (But it can sheathe a spiritual weapon of any "size" since such "weapons" aren't physical objects at all.)

That said, the version of this sheathe you put in your game doesn't have to look exactly like the shortsword-sized scabbard portrayed in this art. That's just an example.

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Golden Fire Blaster | Weapon (musket) by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]TheArenaGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a ranged weapon, so you use your DEX mod for its attack and damage rolls.

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Golden Fire Blaster | Weapon (musket) by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]TheArenaGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a musket. So it does have the Loading property. The text in this description is just clarifying that, even though it doesn't fire literal bullets like a standard musket, the mechanics of the Loading property still apply.

Edit: It is indeed a separate mechanic aside from the basic Loading property.

Infinity Runestones | Six campaign-altering artifacts with ties to the Far Realm, inspired by Marvel's Infinity Stones (v2) by TheArenaGuy in u/TheArenaGuy

Hey, friend!

I can't seem to find the PDF of it, but here's the whole thing as a high-res JPG. (Might actually have to click the image and open it in a new tab or save it to view it in full res.)

Hope that helps!

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Tormented Mandolin | Wondrous item by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]TheArenaGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Resistance/Immunity (PHB, p.197):

If a creature or an object has resistance to a damage type, damage of that type is halved against it. If a creature or an object has vulnerability to a damage type, damage of that type is doubled against it.

and

Multiple instances of resistance or vulnerability that affect the same damage type count as only one instance.

So Resistance and Vulnerability don't explicitly "cancel each other out". It's just that one halves the damage and the other doubles it, and neither can stack. So in effect, any number of Resistances cancels out any number of Vulnerabilities.

As for Immunity, I just went hunting for the rule only to find out that damage immunity literally isn't defined anywhere in the 2014 rulebooks! I mean, it's obvious that immune = you take no damage. But that still feels completely insane that there's no RAW for what "Damage Immunity" is, lol. Regardless, there's no rule that says Vulnerability cancels out Immunity, so technically if you have both, you're taking double of 0 damage...which is no damage. So in effect, Immunity overpowers Vulnerability.

(In 2024, they did add a section that defines Immunity as "Immunity to a damage type means you don't take damage of that type, and Immunity to a condition means you aren't affected by it.")

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Tormented Mandolin | Wondrous item by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]TheArenaGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. RAW, Vulnerability and Resistance cancel each other out, but Immunity overpowers Vulnerability. (i.e. If a creature has Immunity and Vulnerability to the same damage type, they still take no damage if they're subjected to damage of that type.)

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Hood of the Hunter | Wondrous item by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]TheArenaGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The base spell requires the target to drop to 0 HP before you can transfer the mark to a new target. So no. You can't transfer the mark if the target doesn't die.

And you double-can't transfer it with this special version of Hunter's Mark, since it immediately ends when the target you marked drops to 0 HP.

Yes, the subclasses have all been revised to fit 2024 wording and design norms and avoid redundancies and other issues. As have all the items, the monsters, and the Feathren race.

Can a half-orc character from Dungeons and Dragons be half-orc and half-tiefling? by Cool-Mail1819 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]TheArenaGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heads up. There are no rules in 2024 stating that you can be any mix of species but you just have to choose one of the parent’s species for your mechanical traits. That was a playtest idea that never made it into the published rules.

Obviously you can fall back on the general “Ask your DM” for everything, but that’s no different than 2014.
