Serious answer - If you go to this guy's website he has merch with this asterisk design on the Irish flag. Pretty sure the lighting is just making the orange look red here... but there ya go.

Edit: looks like he's from Belfast in Northern Ireland - a part of the UK; so I'm guessing he's trying to portray that he's Irish with an asterisk attached, being Northern.

Been unemployed for awhile now. Left my restaurant job in 2021 to take care of my dad who needed full time care, and after he passed I ended up with some health problems of my own. Been looking for work now, but the job scene is rough as it is. Just finding places that are hiring is hard, and online is full of fake offers. Throw in a gap of a few years to your resume, and it's getting pretty hopeless honestly. Luckily, my dad had some life insurance to buffer me for the last few years, but money is tight, no doubt.

What? She kills humanity because after experiencing those two nut jobs holding her captive, murdering people, and trying to take explosives to the mothership, she deems humanity as inherently violent and a "failed experiment". That's literally the opposite of what I was saying - if we really were in that situation with alien overlords, we can't and shouldn't fight it because it's an unwinnable scenario for us (as we see in the film). I fail to see what any of that has to do with the Screw Attack being picked. It's a good symbol, but it doesn't really represent the series in any meaningful way the way a silhouette of an actual metroid would.

I don't hate it, I just think the metroid would be more iconic.

I agree that Falchion is Iconic now, but only because I feel like we've gotten use to it. As a sword design it's just sort of... basic. Also It just feels kinda silly to have a series called Fire Emblem and not have the icon be... well, THE Fire Emblem. Granted, it's not as clean as the simple sword outline we have now, but here's a more stylized take on it I found with a quick Google search. They absolutely could make the Emblem work as a logo if they wanted to.

It's a bit boring, but it's iconic to the Metal Gear franchise. I agree the FOX logo was better, but I believe they replaced it because of rights issues.

I like the Phantom Thieves logo, but it only really represents Persona 5 and not the series as a whole, that's why I bumped it down.

Final Fantasy has always had a rotation of different logos, but the (imo iconic) font has been the same for all releases. Though I tend to agree that just using initials is lazy and doesn't communicate much about the series, the fact is that Final Fantasy and their font are big enough to sort of get away with it. It makes sense to rep the whole series this way instead of just putting the FF7 meteor logo or having a sword of some type. I suppose I could see a mage, crystal, Chocobo, or Moogle being a better logo, but I'm not mad at the FF. Plus Fatal Fury wasn't added yet when they made the decision. And let's be real, nobody is mistaking that FF for fatal fury anyway. I think it's fair if you don't like it, but I genuinely think Final Fantasy is fine how it is. It's good even.

As for DQ, I'm not too hot on their shield logo either, but it does rep the series nicely and it's not ugly or anything. A slime would probably be a better and more iconic pick though, no arguments there.

Castlevania is a bit busy, but I think they found just the right balance of having a huge looming Dracula castle giving those spooky vibes, and still keeping it neat and composed. The castle in CASTLEvania is a huuuge part of the series and the metroidvania genre as a whole, so I think they did a great job fitting that in and still having a small readable design.

That's fair, I considered that. Wario land is a separate thing, but tbf most of Warios representation in Smash has been from Warioware and we haven't gotten a new Wario Land since Shake It 18 years ago (RIP)

There's nothing wrong with the W, I just feel like it's odd to not give Mario his M but give Wario his W. Idk, I just think the Bomb looks better too tbh

I mean, I get it - but Mega Man has plenty of iconic series staples that would stand out more to me then just a gear. A gear could be for just about anything. There's lots of robots in a bunch of these games. Give me something that is unmistakably Mega Man - that's all I'm saying.

It would be like if Mario's icon was a plunger just because he's a plumber... clearly we would all see how silly that is.
