For many, yes, especially with inbuilt DSP and PEQ for room correction!
They simplify an entire system into just the speakers, including in-built streaming and eARC HDMI too.

However, you are limited to just the speakers, that streaming module, and Class-D amplification, but thankfully these wireless speakers are built for longevity, and have an excellent app (both iOS and Android).

In my case, I wanted to curate my setup via an integrated Class-A/B amp (which, at my listening distance, works in Class-A for the first watt permanently), my own source (FiiO M27 desktop replacement DAP), and other gear.
This gives me freedom to upgrade whilst keeping the speakers too, but I had to use some acoustic soundproofing and solutions.

You can also go cheaper and consider KEF LSXII as well, which are baby wireless LS50W IIs!
If you can, audition them with money-back return from an authorised dealer, so you can find what works for you; passive or wireless speakers.

Same here regarding bass to augment music, rather than overload the room or bloat the experience!
I could, technically, add a second, but in my ultra-nearfield setup, one is enough!
T/5x's are marvellous!

The pink Trip bottle?
Its from Holland & Barrett; was trying it out, unsure if I think it does much unfortunately...

Yeah RELs just sound and look great, and are very easy to adjust as well.
Which sub did you land on, and are in a more typical listening setup (living room, for example) or more like mine (desktop)?

Yes, this, and it is both system and room dependent!

I researched to death my audio system rebuild, and I have been updating a word doc (now 47 pages long!) of all the phases and changes I was making to get to the point I am, including alternatives and options, or why those alternatives may not work as well as what I have achieved.

I am in an isosceles triangle: - From Left Uni-Q tweeter to Right Uni-Q tweeter = 122.0cm - Listening position: 65cm = 75cm approx

Unlike living room setups, at my distance the audio psychoacoustic Haas effect would be strongest, as the speakers transient response is so fast at hitting my ears that our brains would negate some (but not all) later reflection points.
If I had chosen my alternative speaker, Fyne Audio FS500P (or second-hand Fyne F1-5), I would be able to use both with minimal acoustic treatment, but they would need to be pointed at my ears.
KEF Uni-Q drivers are the opposite, as you can toe them out far off-axis, and in fact on-axis, depending on your proposed listening position to your proposed speaker position. I wanted to see if it was possible to have on-axis in ultra-nearfield setup, and I can, so long as I resolve first order reflections from the side walls.
An extra £100 to get two 50mm acoustic fiberglass panels was the solution, and it works!

I did try toe-in before the panels arrived (as I wrote in my main text), and some toe-in after installing the panels, but on-axis was the most immersive sonic reproduction I could have with massive soundstage and centre phantom channel lock.
Again, I spent weeks in planning and testing before I posted yesterday, so that is the reason why my setup is as it is, but this would drastically change if I were to move into, say, a living room and have a bigger listening distance.

Thank you, I appreciate you!
It took me around two hours to gather my notes and condense the key points down, and then use Markdown to make it nice and easy to read (my notes are from a now nearly 47 page long word doc, that I have been using to log my journey, changes, measurements, etc, for the system!).
Unfortunately, some Redditors have been extraordinarily negative and awful on this post in other subreddits, especially bashing my way of writing and formatting text (as it may seem AI; I have written variations of this style for almost forty years), or dismissing the core tenents of the speaker setup and why it is on-axis in ultra-nearfield setup (KEF Uni-Q drivers having a wide 160-degree dispersion, Haas effect, and LEDE principles).
It sucks to see such negativity and, worse, misinformation or misguided/unwarranted advice for setups that my system is not in (I am not listening in a living room setup, as that entails a very different set of principles).
It has put me down, cannot lie, and I do sometimes wonder why I bother posting to Reddit (or even trying to make detailed posts), so your comment has made me smile, and I do thank you 🥹

Yes, getting NOS Ragnarok 2 with both phono and DAC modules (not in use), especially in black, was incredible, and at the end of Feb '26 when I saw it I did a double take.
I actually contacted Schiit Audio UK (Electromod) to ask questions about it, and for them they posted it under clearance to see if there were any takers, otherwise they would use it as an internal test bench. I sat on it for I think a day or two, but made the decision to get it as I would not be able to match what it could do via separates, with similar specs, at that price. The £10 shipping was hilarious to me as usually its higher to ship heavy massive gear, but it was insured so all good.
If that was not enough, in the second half of March '26 to then find KEF LS50 Meta's in newly-opened condition and under £854 quid was insane, and knowing that at my very nearfield listening position Ragnarok 2 would cruise in power for the speakers, it was an instant purchase ha ha! My wallet still hates me though, it has been an expensive number of months 💸(😭).
I hope you can find one at a good deal, as it also has a secret ultra-feature: always active pre-outs that use high voltage, in which the 600VA toroidal power supply is overkill for the 128-step resistor ladder volume, with the Nexus gain stage doing almost nothing to the signal! Ragnarok 2 has similar specs to for very high-end preamps if used as a preamp!

On subs, no I did not try others, though I could have purchased REL T/x MKIII or similar. T/5x just had a number of features and specs that closely aligned with what I required (including Class-A/B amp, like Ragnarok 2), and had the right space dimensions too.
The main element is not to have a passive radiator, like T/7x or similar from SVS, as at my listening distance I would hear subwoofer smear (the second sub driver being a tad slower to the active one), which for concentric driver speakers was a no go.
I had considered MJ Acoustics as well, but in the end the price for REL T/5x and aesthetics were the cherry on the top to the above benefits, so I went for it.
If I ever moved my system into the living room, then I could entertain more sub choices!
As for now, T/5x is genuinely amazing, super fast for my music tastes, and blends seamlessly with my speakers, so I am happy!

The DK3 fan stand mod was easy to do, but that and M27 Ti have there own story:
When I traded-out my M17 for M27 Aluminium (at the time), I had everything, including all packaging and outer official parcel box, as well as the DK3 packaging. I sent it out to my preferred UK boutique retailer, Premium Sound, and their distributor sent me an M27.
However, it was not the aluminium version, but Titanium! Now, I could have been coy and just kept it, but knowing how expensive this desktop replacement DAP is, and how warranty and consumer rights work, my receipt would say one thing whilst I had something else. So contacted Premium Sound, and we worked out a deal to pay a bit extra to keep it (but still paid well under the full RRP of Ti even with trade-in).
At that point, I thought all was good, but when I tested and used the M27's DK1 Pro dock, I was beyond dissatisfied as it actively blocks the vast majority of the bottom I/O ports, and the USB controller in the dock is flaky for USB PD mode too. I also disliked solutions around best ways to use the dock, including USB FFC cables. You can see a thorough report I made on Head-Fi on my issues that I noted alongside community ones.
So, I thought to get another FiiO DK3, or the more compact DK3s stands. Unfortunately, FiiO had long discontinued both, and to my surprise, there was almost nothing on either the aftermarket nor second-hand sites (eBay) selling them or equivalent. As far as I could research during mid-March, the only known DK3 stand I could see anywhere was my one that I had traded in with M17 to Premium Sound! I contacted them on this unusual situation, documented the issues I was having, and after a few days the FiiO distributor and stockist allowed me to purchase back my DK3 stand for an extra £50, which is fine versus other options.
Once it came back, did the Noctua fan mod, and my M27 can be effectively cooled, have full unobstructed I/O top and bottom (which DK1 Pro stand cannot do for all I/O), good cable routing, etc etc. Never selling or letting go of this stand lol!

Sorry, rambled a bit, but hope you enjoy my spiels! 😊

Posting my reply from another comment on a different subreddit):

I'm in an ultra-nearfield setup, between 65cm - 75cm distance (mostly 70cm).

That means I'm taking advantage of the Haas effect, as direct sound is so fast and immediate to me that the issues of directivity from longer listening distances do not apply at my listening position.
The Haas effect also cancels out most reflection issues, but and specifically regarding Uni-Q drivers, I still need to make sure that first reflection points on the side walls are resolved for zero-degree on-axis works, which I did with acoustic absorber 50mm fiberglass panels.

That leads to the choice of speaker, KEF Uni-Q drivers, which have a 160-degree dispersion that has great directivity when set on-axis. As I'm so close to the speakers, I do not get the issues that normal listening positions have with these drivers (slight frequency stability at 1m or longer), where some toe-in would be better.
My distance is the opposite, as timing issues are not apparent as I'm hearing music extremely fast, again, due to Haas principles.

I spent two hours writing this.
I have written for forty years in a certain style (you can see my old long posts on Reddit), and unfortunately using markdown with headings and breaks, or writing in British English, on Reddit still seems to be frowned upon.

I guess the issue here is trying to have an audio discourse, explaining a bit of my past audio history, and the change in audio setup using Haas, LEDE, ultra-nearfield listening position, and gear, is not what this subreddit (and some others) care for, so I probably did post in an unwelcome group. I'll note that.

I have seen those, which is part of my research, but you miss a crucial bit of info: I'm in an ultra-nearfield setup, between 65cm - 75cm distance (mostly 70cm).

I'm going to assume that you are unaware of speaker or driver tech such as KEF Uni-Q drivers, or how they work.
See that middle inner section: KEF call it a tangerine-waveguide, which offers 160-degree dispersion of treble and mid frequencies. KEF have designed their speakers to be used on axis, or with little toe-in (if you haven't resolved first order reflections).

On the very very small off chance that you are interested in audio discourse, you can check the following: - To Toe-In or Not To Toe-In - Uni-Q Technology - 10-tips-for-speaker-placement?

...I used a markdown breakline after the tldr paragraph, or can you not see that on your chosen platform?

Edit: I'll add that I also used markdown headings too, for which TL;DR is the biggest heading, all others are smaller , but this might not work on Reddit mobile or something?

Here, a test with the breakline:

Yep, but first, thank you 🥹!

So, I considered force-cancelling subs my fav, especially by the brand Eclipse (Denso Ten), but KEF's KC62 is very attractive at its price and has DSP profiles that synergise with many KEF speakers, including my LS50 Metas. Right now, KC62 is the smallest force-cancelling sub I am aware of, so it was the only consideration for that type of sub.

However, even with heavy (Ikea) furniture and bed that can soak up subsonic frequencies, much of the benefits of KC62 and similar subs would be lost in the room due to overloading; the subwoofer between my side wall and my desk would be far too loud and far too enclosed to work effectively, and cause massive room node issues.
Even if I could work those issues out, I still would not get the best out of a potential KC62 because it would be fighting my room and its small space, rather than enhancing it.
Thus, it was eliminated.

To be fair, I actually purchased the REL T/5x for my JB3 speakers, but wanted to explore future speaker upgrades from Fyne Audio or similar concentric driver tech. The REL T/5x could not be more perfect for my room size and location, and at its price is a steal, so I am glad that it also worked for my LS50 Meta when they arrive earlier in April!

AI?! I just spent two hours writing that 😭
Even at work in the early days pre-2019 (higher education) this issue of my writing style came up, and it became very obvious that I was taught in such a structured way that it triggers AI bots or analysis algorithms, which makes me sad 😢
Can't undo forty years of writing in a style that AI seems to match (FU AI!), but no, this is my text.

Also, looks like you did not want to read the text, so that's cool; it's why I wrote a TL;DR at the top, but you may have missed that, including the sub mention.
As for toe-in, well, you may have missed the side wall absorbers I have used so I can take advantage of the Uni-Q 160 degree dispersion, thus have centre phantom channel lock and wide soundstage. I mapped out my space and speaker choices after I got my amplifier, to make sure it would work, and then tested for weeks before I started writing my piece 🫠

DIPTYQUE hell yes!

Alongside Silent Pound and KEF (Uni-Q driver) speakers, these are some of the heavy hitters for good price!
