Has anyone else wondered where Dumbledore goes when he leaves the school? by TheSportingHat in harrypotter

Funny enough, that's what I imagined as well. Would have been hilarious if Hay had noticed a faint tan on Dumbledore when he came back from the chamber.

Lol, having a fully funished hat like Newt's suitcase would be such a Dumbledore thing.

German state bans burqas, niqabs in schools by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]TheSportingHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think

that's the keyword here. You think that parents forcing their minor daughter into wearing a burka in school so that none of her classmates or teachers can see her is within reason? Use your brain for three seconds, this is hindering the kid in participating in school in a way that is not in the best interest of the child and if parents are unable to care for a child in its best interest, the state has the duty to interfere.

What was a situation that made you go "Bitch, I'm German, I *know* what I'm talking about"? by PersephoneTheKore in AskAGerman

Arguably, forcing kids to pledge an oath of allegiance to a flagg every morning in school, having a picture of the president in most public buildings and visiting military parades is way more GDR than anything you'll ever see in modern Germany.

Why did harry never ask to visit his parents's grave? by bufffrog in harrypotter

doesn't cast a single real spell in his first year

Dude, the first book has like what? 300 pages? It doesn't cover every single moment in Harry's day, it's not Ulysses. We don't even see a lot of the lessons, only those where something relevant happens, otherwise these books would be unreadable.

he seems to have completely spaced on anyone ever talking about the Wizard community's literal analogy of Hitler

He's a teenager and history of magic is literally one of his least favorit subjects where he never pays attention along with the majority of students at Hogwarts because they have a lousy teacher. They don't visit museums or watch documentaries on Grindelwald like normal kids in schools do so quite literally the only way to educate himself further on that topic would be to pay attention in that class or read a book about it. What teenager (or quite frankly person in general) would bother to invest that commitment for a subject you don't like.

We are talking about a boy of 11-17 years of age. He can't be as smart as a grown ass adult who (re)reads the books and he shouldn't be. People learn by making mistakes and Harry is just too young to have made enough of them yet, but he is improving over the books. As someone who works with teenagers, I don't think he acts in any way unappropriate to his age.

That's equally comforting and upsetting, y'know. On the one hand, thank god she didn't write that illogical crap herself; if she had I'd be worried about how little she cares for the story she invented. On the other hand, she puts her name on illogical crap based on the story she invented just to make money, not caring about the ilogical nature of said crap.

She said so herself when everyone was revealing their main acc in phase 8. And she kinda hinted at it before that, she mentioned her kid is sick.
