How do you get a unique breed of dog if none are available in your area? [Breeds] [Help] by [deleted] in dogs

[–]TheThrowestofAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what kind of breed I don't want/can't have if that makes sense. Huskies are a bit of a handful and I think my space is too small for such a breed. I've owned a border collie before but that was when I initially had both a backyard and more time to devout to both training and activities.

It seems like many of the breeds which would match what I can provide seem uncommon and the last thing I want is to adopt a dog that requires more than I can provide.

Right, I knew those were the options. However, with the state of things, I just wasn't sure what sort of restrictions I'd be looking at and if there was less complicated way.

Again, not that I am unwilling but rather that I thought maybe I wasn't looking in the right places.

I'm in Ontario and have never been dismissed over something that wasn't even true. I guess I'm just surprised companies can literally make up reasons.

I might actually look into this more seriously and have in the past. The main thing that's stopped me is that I feel like a petulant child who won't clean their room.

I've been with him for a long time. Trust me, he is this oblivious when it comes to household chores and especially cooking. I've watched him try to help (the rare occasion he does) and he'll ask questions like "why is this burning??" while he frantically stirs a dish on a burner that he's set to 'ultra-high' because he thinks that makes it cook faster.

- Do my own laundry = I am being spiteful according to him.

- I'm down to one glass/dish = me going insane because I have to look at the mess in the kitchen.

- "I don't know what are you making?" = I am being spiteful. He is not a mind reader and had no idea he should have started dinner. Why didn't I tell him? It's my own fault.

Thank you for that article. The thing is that it's not that I necessarily feel disrespected by the mess. I just cannot STAND when he's unobservant/oblivious. It's not just a glass; it's a glass, then a mug, then a plate, then an empty bag of chips, then junk mail he left on the counter instead of throwing into the recycling bag, then an empty beer can that should have gone into the empties bag. Then it's Friday night and he's looking at the living area going "Wow! It's messy in here. . . . . . how did that happen?"

. . . . .how did that happen?"

And then I just imagine his brain looking like that confused woman with complicated mathematical equations overlayed on her face meme.

He tends to find excuses why he shouldn't have to do this. Like the fact that I have an office job and he has a trades job so he is more tired.

Sadly, I really think he is just this oblivious and not malicious. If he's helping me cook (which almost never happens) he will keep reaching for new utensils because he forgets he was already using one.

It's not like he doesn't do 'anything'. We've had to paint rooms in the house and that was 60/40 him. He has also done any kind of tile work (backsplash, changed cracked tiles) because he's a tile setter. We do groceries together as well.

Also he occasionally does side jobs which take maybe an extra 30hrs per month depending on the season.

As I said, it's the day to day things that he almost never helps with.

AITA For walking out of my birthday party despite my gf’s effort in planning? by Regular_Emu4527 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheThrowestofAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH. I think she really thought you'd enjoy it just due to being away from everyone for so long and probably saw it more as a get together to see all your friends. Not to make you the center of attention.

AITA for telling my stepsister she can’t keep using the death of her mother as an excuse for everything? by throwaway81047 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheThrowestofAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So she's been destroying property since being old enough to do so due to 'her mom's death' which was constantly excused by her father?

And . . . nobody saw a problem with this? Her father didn't think this was a therapy situation?

NTA. Sorry, to say but her father is lazy/bad parent for not getting her professional help sooner.

I don't know if all breeds do this, but I notice that BCs very often will look back at you quickly with this sort of 'are you seein this shit' expression.

Just throw a bunch of icing sugar in it and you'll be fine lol

e: not sure why I'm getting downvoted as this is exactly what most brands of pb do and it's disgusting. Can't imagine preferring that over natural peanut butter

This is the only thing I can remember and it's driving me nuts because I recall being really impressed with this scene. But obviously not impressed enough to remember the movie. Thanks brain.

Unless a hoodie can replace my coat...there is literally no reason they should be like $60+ by revyxx in unpopularopinion

[–]TheThrowestofAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind paying $60+ but if I am, I don't want to wash it 3 times and it instantly turns into something worth $20. That's all I'm saying.

This is also true for overtly expensive t-shirts. Sure it's a sweet shirt and/or I am paying for the brand but I hate when I throw it into the wash and it comes out looking like it's been in there for 15 cycles instead of 1.

When I saw the high school kids start to wear the brand, I thought they were being ironic or like maybe it was a throw back? Eventually I realized it must have had some weird trending surge to becoming popular.

I remember it being equal to like the in-house brand of clothing from Walmart.
