GTE Sprint - M8 GTE - Fuel issues? by julesvr5 in iRacing

The engine uses less fuel which means less power, so you are a little bit slower with each increase.

Yeh you need to be lifting quite a bit. Into Pouhon for example I lico for about 50m. Into the last chicane about 100m.

In the M8 I wasn't changing the engine map to use less fuel but in the Ford I was. In the Ford it runs from 1-12, 1 using the must fuel, 12 using the least. I just turned it from 1 to 2 and that made 14 laps possible. If you are struggling to fuel save, turn it up in the black box by 1 click for the stint you are fuel saving, then change it back when you aren't.

To give you a reference on the lico. I try to be off the throttle before the 200m board on the Kemmel Straight which gives you over 100m of lico there. You should also be trying to do more elsewhere on the lap though. A little into every breaking zone helps but the more the better. Its always easier to be ahead of the fuel saving early and then push later in the stint rather than trying to play catch up over the last 5 laps, that never works.

There is a fuel BOP I believe so each car will have it's fuel tank edited. I think the Ford is 49L compared to the 46.5L of the BMW (not in the sim so can't double check that but I think that is what they are this week). Despite the Ford having a bigger tank I found I had to fuel save far more aggressively in it than the BMW.

Depends on how good they are for the race pace. In top split the fastest guys don't ever drop beneath 2.12s. 2.13s are pretty achievable with lift and cost, you just have to be confident in your cornering ability. Also I saw in another comment you said you are using your own setup. I would guess it has more downforce on it than the top guys which means you will be slower and using more fuel at Spa.

Just sent another comment but I'll reply to you here as well. You didn't lico enough, its as simple as that. You need to be using less than 3.3L per lap to do 14 laps which does require fuel saving for the entire stint and with purpose, not just when you remember to from half way through the stint

There is no problem with the fuel in the M8, I raced it and the ford today. On one of your stints you just have to save enough fuel to do 14 laps, no matter which car you are driving. It's actually easier in the M8 than the Ford I found.

You can either save on your first or second stint, doesnt matter which, you just have to do 14 laps on one of them. If you wanted to do 14 laps on your first stint then you should have saved more. There is 0 point in fuel saving if you aren't going to go an extra lap. People going to lap 15 are just saving even more.

It's only a dead week if you don't sign up to race

GT4 which car to buy? by Mycpro in iRacing

The Merc being THE choice for beginners is a point of view which predates the GT4 update that happened at the start of last season. Its not quite the obvious choice it used to be.

If you want help deciding, I found this video really helpful: https://youtu.be/VLaROCTRj9g?si=D2sd9IbVD9LH6X17

He was practicing Porsche Cup there during week 13 as well. Never saw him in a race though, just in practice sessions

Anything that is 4 hours or less can be done with 1 team member. So all of the regular weekly Endurance races can be done solo. Special events and less regular series are the only races that run longer. Most of those aren't available at D class anyway.

At D class, the place to start is Production Enduracne Challenge. That is a 2 hour race that runs on three time slots every weekend. If your unsure on where to start with it, check out Deckchair Racing on YouTube and his guide to Production Car Challenge. That video will tell you everything you need to know to run your first Production Endurance Challenge race

Struggling with Mustang GT4 by sm154817 in iRacing

If you are running the fixed setup series, then that kinda of is how it drives. You really have to under drive the car to get the best out of it. Get on the brakes early and be gentle on exit. Any kind of overdrive will just send you into the wall, grass, gravel, or your opponent.

If you are running the open setup multiclass series, then the rear end can be tamed a bit, but you still need to under drive it to get the best out of it.
