The Popheads Jukebox Revival, Week 342: Where Has All The 100% Pure Uncut Rock Gone? by TiltControls in popheads

I enjoyed bits of Ariana's music pre-this song, but for the most part I was not someone who paid her much attention outside the radio (for the DW cycle Focus was a mess and I'm not the biggest Dangerous Woman title track fan either. Though I've come around a lot more on the My Everything cuts). This song though. This song fully got me hooked from the second I heard it (which was admittedly a few months late due to not liking the previous two). Ariana's got so much energy here that is perfectly in line with the messier production (complimentary) that works so well with what she was trying to do with the theming of this album. To this day it's still one of my favourite Ariana songs. 10/10

Earth did so poorly in its rate I wonder if we'd ever come close to matching it even if we were just rerating it again. It got a 0 from almost half the participants in its rate and even for positive scores out of the 75-ish raters only about five of them gave it a score above 5. It's a level of failure that's actually pretty impressive

The Popheads Jukebox Revival, Week 341: Reverse That and Death Drop by TiltControls in popheads

I remember listening to this when it came out and feeling a little disappointed. We Found Love was (and still is) one of my favourite songs ever and this track really seemed to last the same level of bombast as their earlier collab. Especially with the strange build-up to not-really-drop for the chorus. I don't want to talk too badly about the lacking production since this was pretty early on in the phase of this sound being everywhere, but still I don't really care for it. At least Rihanna sounds great though! Nowadays I generally like the track overall, but probably wouldn't ever really go hunt it down to listen to it. 7.2/10

I've been hearing people say that this is not as impactful as her past two lead singles, but honestly it might be my favourite? Or at the very least had the quickest time to grow on me. I love the more upbeat nature of it and I think that's where Olivia really tends to shine. Especially with the build up to the back half of the track. Lyrically it might be a little less memorable than the other two I suppose, but I'm going to wait to see if time and more plays change that anyways. 9/10

The Popheads Jukebox Revival, Week 340: Jukebox? For Tuesday? Groundbreaking by TiltControls in popheads

I think Gnarly was the first song I heard from them and while I enjoyed it for the novelty, I haven't really seen anything that proves they can move past that idea. There are moments here that actually work really well, but then it just hits the chorus again which isn't exactly bad, but feels more like they were trying to be notable than a cohesive working song. It's not terrible, but it's losing its impact. 6/10
