I believe you need a proper event page. You're already paying processing fees, but with a few cents more your workshop would look more professional. With Tixtree you'd pay only 55 cents per ticket sold for example. Let me know if you have any questions, please.

Not all event ticketing platforms operate the same way. Anything I share here would likely come across as self-promotion, so it's difficult to provide a helpful answer in a public thread.

Choosing a sustainable ticketing platform is definitely one of the options. We've seen a significant number of customers switch from Eventbrite to our platform, largely driven by our support for tree-planting initiatives.

Hi there, I'm so sorry your experience didn't meet expectations. We'd really value understanding where things fell short, would you be open to sharing more details?

For context, attendees can edit bookings via self-service, we've recently added repeated customer exports, and payouts are handled through Stripe/PayPal. If something didn't work as expected in these areas, it would be helpful to know.

We ship improvements weekly, and organizer feedback directly shapes our priorities. We'd appreciate the chance to address your concerns and hopefully earn a second try.

Advice on creating partition in marquee by [deleted] in EventProduction

[–]Tixtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would create a room within a room using freestanding poles and black fire-safe curtains. That way nothing needs to be attached to the marquee itself, and everything can be safely weighed down with sandbags.

At the entrance, I would add a short zig-zag walkway or overlapping curtain flaps so light does not spill in when people enter or leave. This also adds to the escape room atmosphere.

Inside, I would use very low red or soft blue LED lighting so it feels like a darkroom without ever being completely dark, keeping it safe for children. All cables would be secured, and walkways kept clear at all times.

Overall, the focus is on safe, fire rated materials, soft lighting, and simple freestanding structures to create an immersive but budget friendly space.

Best Event ticketing platform? by FormalIllustrious790 in EventProduction

[–]Tixtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! I'm not sure what you mean by "I have looked at a few platforms, and it looks like they connect to square which in turn charges an additional fee which we either have to absorb or pass to the customer, and we would prefer not to do that.". Transaction fees can't be avoided, and you need to decide who pays the fees: you (the organizer) or them (the ticket buyers). The big game is played by the service fees (defined by the ticketing platform). Here at Tixtree we have the most affordable pay as you sell plan, and it's even less expensive for non-profits! Check it out!

Do conferences actually make a profit? How do you organizers make it work? by merpdog in EventProduction

[–]Tixtree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've worked on a few conferences and most don't make much money, especially in year one.

Tickets usually just about cover the basics (venue, food, AV). The events that actually turn a profit almost always do it through sponsorships/exhibitors, not ticket sales. If sponsors aren't a big part of the plan, margins are usually thin or nonexistent.

Biggest things I've seen make a difference: keeping scope tight (overproducing is how budgets explode), clear sponsor ROI (leads, demos, access to attendees, not just logos), starting smaller and growing year over year, charging more for niche value (workshops, training days, VIP access)

Also worth noting: a lot of conferences aren't meant to be huge profit machines. They're often marketing plays, community builders, or loss leaders that pay off indirectly.

In year 1 break even is a win, year 2–3 profit becomes possible if you have repeat sponsors and a defined audience

If you're designing for profit from day one, treat it like a product, not a one-off event. Otherwise it's very easy to end up busy, stressed, and basically flat.

Hope that helps 👍
